State of Maryland. October 17, 1780. One Tenth of a Dollar or Nine Pence. No.992. Signed by T.[homas]...State of Maryland. October 17, 1780. One Tenth of a Dollar or Nine Pence. No.992. Signed by T.[homas] Johnson, Jr. [faint]. Printed on frail, laid paper. Smaller size format than previous acts, approximately 85mm by 62mm. Typeset face with different style border cuts than previous acts. Alternating Crown, fleur-de-lys, and rose face border patterns. Back with State Arms center. Imprint 'Printed by F. Green'.

A rare series and a choice example on this series. Any note on this date is a Maryland Colonial collectors prize. Fine or better. Problem-free with only honest wear and soiling. Wide right margin from the sheet. There are very minor nicks. Potentially a condition census note, but not up the magnificent Newman Plate note. Boyd pencil code on back, ''ryx'' for $5.00! That might have been eighty years ago or more.

Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate.
