State of Maryland. October 17, 1780. One Fifteenth of a Dollar or Six Pence. No.496. Signed by T.[homas] Johnson, Jr. [faint]. Printed on frail, laid paper. Smaller size format than previous acts, approximately 85mm by 62mm. Typeset face with different style border cuts than previous acts. Border with fleur-de-lys and roses. Back with State Arms center. Imprint 'Printed by F. Green'. This is another rare series of notes and only seen in advanced collections. Though not much to look at, an important piece and the lowest denomination on the series. There were 45,000 printed, but not many exist today. Good, but impaired. A chunk out of the right border cut. Splits, nicks and voids seen under the light. Still, for this rarity, collectible.
Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate.
