Georgia. 1776. One Spanish Milled Dollar. No.353. Blue-Green Seal. SUSTINE RECTUM. Border variety (a). Signed by Andrew, Evans, Saltus and Wade. Printed on laid paper. The bottom left corner of the sheet or block with full margins. Boyd pencil code at the upper right back corner. This note is from the bottom corner of the sheet or block with full selvege at the left and bottom, both with their natural deckling. Choice Extremely Fine. Three very light folds or bends on the note proper, none of them fully creased. Outstanding paper quality with printing quality superbly sharp and deeply embossed as seen from the back. The seal is also finely impressed and excellent color with a clear motto. A bold and original example that represents the type nicely. Boyd's pencil code on the verso and a harsh corner crease in the wide lower left.
Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate.
The series also included a $4 Liberty Cap seal note. This is a well documented rarity (perhaps less than half-a-dozen known in private hands) that does exist in a few private collections. Its great status as a rarity is confirmed by being absent from the Ford-Boyd-Chapman-Haseltine core collection and its added parts.
