State of Pennsylvania. June 1, 1780 Act. Seven Dollars. No.8387. Signed by Knox and Jones; countersigned on the back by R.[ichard] Bache. Printed on thin paper, watermarked 'CONFEDE/RATION'. Standard size, designs and imprint as used on Maryland and other State issued ''Guaranteed'' notes. There is a misspelling in the top border cut, 'DOLLRAS'. Without red interest payable stamping on face. Like the New York Guaranteed bills, this is a very rare series. There were 25,000 notes of each denomination authorized. In this extremely impressive set of seven of the eight denominations issued on the Act, we have another Very Choice note that is among the finest. Any note from the Act is a key acquisition for a collector of Pennsylvania notes and a key type for a set of Guaranteed bills.
The note saw no circulation, only some light handling at the Pennsylvania Treasury or by collectors over its 225 plus years on this Earth. Extremely Fine Plus. Vertical center fold, light side bending, and lower right long corner fold. Exceptional paper quality and immaculate surfaces. The mica glitters as new with bold orange color on the harp vignette. The left end is slightly trimmed in, but the other margins are superior. A beautiful fit into the highest end collection of Revolutionary War paper currency.
Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate.
