Colony of Rhode Island. June 16, 1775. Ten Shillings. With 2.5% Interest, Due within Five Years. No.1353. Signed by Greene and John Cole. Printed on thin paper. 69mm by 105mm. Printed on both sides, standard Rhode Island style. Within three border cuts are typeset texts, Rhode Island seal at left, signatures at bottom. Ornamental pattern back, 'TEN/SHILLINGS' at center. No imprint, printed by John Carter. Only 2,000 notes authorized.
A second Choice example that would stand on its own merits as a superb note from the series. This note itself would be a highlight in any auction offering of Colonial paper currency. Very Fine to Extremely Fine. Creased with a left side split, long corner fold, and some other handling. Tightly margined, but nearly full. Period penned ''13/4'' on bottom back. Boyd pencil code ''iyx'' at back lower left. Another incredible grade rarity, obviously from a Rhode Island collection first formed over 100 years ago with diligence and visionary enlightenment.
Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate.
