Colony of New York. March 5, 1776.  Two Thirds of a Dollar or Five Shillings and Four Pence. No.23616....Colony of New York. March 5, 1776. Two Thirds of a Dollar or Five Shillings and Four Pence. No.23616. Signed by C.[ornelius] Ray and Wm. Heyer. Printed on thinner stock than previous notes. Ornate border cuts, New York Arms at the right. Back with small circular emblem at left with eagle, motto FORTIS A FORTE. Imprint 'Printed by Samuel Loudon, in the Year M, DCC, LXXVI'. Another lovely note from this well matched and nearly complete denomination set on the issue. A bright and vivid example. Choice Crisp Uncirculated in terms of paper quality. The face exhibits wide margins and is well centered. The back however is shifted far down and is not completely on the paper. Very faint corner knock at the upper right.
