 City and County of Albany. June 22, 1775. Two Shillings. No.1056. Signed by Jacob Lansing, Jr. and Jacob C. Ten Eyck, and Abraham Yates, Jr. [in red, mostly faded]. Printed on laid paper. Wide format. Uniface, typeset note with left end flourish and ornamental borders. A rare series of municipal notes. The Ford-Boyd Collection has a complete run of denominations as listed in Newman. The series is so rare, that it was not represented in the 1993 Dupont Colonial Private Scrip offering held by R.M. Smythe & Co. Fine or so. Vertically split, backed to white paper. Rather stained along the bottom and center. However, intact, readable and very rare.

The March, 1993 Smythe Sale was not a ''named'' sale but contained Colonial era portions of DuPont's historical paper money collection. Focused in that sale catalogue were his lottery tickets, Colonial Currency (strongest in New Jersey), and private issuer bills of the Colonial era. Many of the Newman Plate Notes on the private issuers came from the DuPont Collection. Due to the broadness of that holding, it reflects well on the great rarity of this series of municipal notes.
