Colony of New Hampshire. January 26, 1776. Three Dollars. No.1149. Portsmouth Issue Printed by Daniel Fowle. Payable on January 26, 1783. Signed by Smith and White. Printed on thick, coarse stock. 73mm by 85mm. Standard face and back designs by Fowle with his imprint. Another denomination on this rare series and in excellent grade. This 1783 due date type not represented on the denomination in Ford X in 2005. This should be considered a choice example for the type. The grading standard for this paper type is unique (or similar to New York thick notes from the 1750's).
Very Fine, but others might classify it higher. The note is not creased, but has two ''bends'' across the note trisecting the face. The lower left corner is heavily bent and there is other handling. There is a myriad of paper fold ''bubbling'' that apparently are as made. Lightly toned over and well margined. Overall, this is a very sharp note and important. Very worthy of strong attention as this is a top notch New Hampshire Colonial note.
