Georgia. (1776). Three Spanish Milled Dollars. No.824. Crossed Cannon. Signed by Bryan, Jackson, Burkloe, O'Bryen and Ewen. Printed on laid paper, visible Crown on Circle watermark at upper right. Pattern ornamental indent style border at left, framed in ornaments on other three sides. Texts in black and orange. Vignette lower right with 'THREE' above and 'DOLLARS' below, both in orange. Fine to Very Fine. Quarter folded with the vertical creased. Two short edge splits and lightly toned paper. The color is excellent and the paper body still very strong. Well margined with only some light rounding in at the bottom left corner. A lovely type note and a superb type.
Not quite on par with the example in Ford Part X in May, 2005 in Atlanta (lot 4537), but still a superior and untampered with note. That Ford-Boyd note brought a whopping $10,925.00. This theoretically should be a little more affordable, but still ''blast'' away the Newman $600.00 catalogue value (prices by the late Richard Picker as consultant).
