Colony of New York. September 2, 1775. Two Dollars. No.299. Signed by Garrit Abeel [in red] and Ab'm Brinckerhoff. Printed on thick stock. Ornate border cuts, New York Arms right. Printed back, circular medallion with pair of storks, motto SALUTARIS SIBI PARENTIBUSQUE. Imprint 'Printed by John Holt, in the Year 1775'. Choice Crisp Uncirculated. Not a perfect note some may argue, but very fresh for its 225 plus years on the planet. Boldly impressed with an exquisite back. The left margin is tight and there is an ink speck on the top face border cut. Only 5,000 notes were printed and very few of that number remain in grade. A lovely note, uncommon in this lofty state, and worthy of a record price for the type.
