1788 Massachusetts cent. R-10.L. Rarity-2. AU-50. Another very sharp specimen, showing excellent definition in the figure of the Indian and the reverse eagle. Attractive light olive-brown, lightly granular under a glass, toning spot at arrow butt below EA of WEALTH on obverse, another spot partially removed from before the Indian's profile, a few other lesser scattered specks here and there. A series of shallow scratches is present atop the eagle's wing below USET on the reverse. Still far sharper than usually seen and a very collectible type coin.
From Hillyer Ryder to F.C.C. Boyd; Stacks' sale of the John J. Ford Jr., Collection Part 5, October 2004, Lot 138. The original Ford lot ticket is included.
