A great seal type that ties nicely to the Fugio themed Continental notes of the February 17, 1776 Resolution. The seal color authorized is blue, but this seal is closer to a toned rust orange. The printer may have used the lower denominations' ink color for the upper denominations' seals. Very Fine or better. There is a visible paper thin, paper patched, on the links and two paper tape repaired top edge nicks. For the type, the margins are excellent, though a bit close in places. An interesting anomaly and a bright note.
Collecting Colonial currency can seem overwhelming to newcomers and intermediate collectors as well. However, there are many great themes that can be tied together into compact and interesting collections. One such topic is the patriotic symbols used on both the Continental Currency notes and the individual colonies. Often, common denominators run through different notes from both the Northern and Southern colonies and are tangible evidence of the growing unity necessary in the fight against the British for control of their political, economic and personal destinies. Truly, Colonial currency is a tangible link to the beliefs and philosophy of our founding National leaders.
