CHINA. Republic. Medallic 10 Cash, n.d. (ca. 1946). Copper-nickel. Temple of Heaven. Rv. PRESENTED BY GENERALISSIMO AND MADAME CHIANG KAI-SHEK around Chinese seal script characters in a circle. Mule of Bruce reverse X-M590 and reverse X-M595. Bruce X-M600. Choice Extremely Fine. (Est. $60-$90)

In China's Imperial times, it was customary for the Emperor when receiving holiday gifts to present in return to the gift-giver a token or amulet. Chiang Kai-shek apparently sought to restore this custom by having these medallic issues struck.
