1797 LM-1. 15 Star Obverse. Choice Fine. These minuscule, early issues of the fledgling U.S. Mint are often quite wretched looking, even in the higher grades. The present example is a pleasant departure from the norm, as this coin features lovely medium gray surfaces that are toned in subtle gold, rose and silver hues. If the central strike were a bit better, this coin may have graded fully Very Fine. PCGS F15.
