Quadriga r. with Nike flying l. above to crown the driver; one horse in front trace lookingback, ketos (sea-serpent) in ex. Rv. Two eagles standing r. on dead hare, one with its head back screeching, the second with its head lowered, about to tear its prey. 17.10 grams. Rizzo Pl.2.4 (same dies), Gulbenkian 167. Well-struck on a slightly elongated flan. Attractive medium gray. Nice Very Fine. An excellent example of this innovative and interesting type, one of the most expressive in Greek numismatic art. (Est. $8,000-$10,000)
