Categories  •  Coin Galleries December 2004 United States Coins U. S. Colonial Coins Vermont Coppers

1786 Baby Head type. R.9 (R-4). A second. 127.0 grains. Very Good or better in terms of wear. Surfaces are uniformly very porous, with most legends faint or missing, while INDE is boldly visible. Reverse is a trifle off-center, leaving only the tops of the '78' in the date visible. Here is a good hole filler for this popular type and die variety of the Vermont series. Dies rotated about 90 degrees from coin turn.

Ex Frederick B. Taylor Collection (Bowers & Merena, March 1987, lot 2064).

Lot # 1885
Hammer Price: $200.00
