1786 Baby Head type. R.9 (R-4). 129.3 grains. Fine. Dark olive-brown surfaces range from perfectly smooth to porous, some old pitting at central reverse being the most eye-catching. The devices and legends that are so distinct for Ryder 9 are essentially complete, with just a hint of weakness at 'CTO' of AUCTORI on obverse. Although this specimen exhibits a pair of rather pronounced edge bruises, the general appearance of this specimen and its lack of planchet flaws make it quite desirable. Dies rotated about 90 degrees from coin turn.
