Choice About Uncirculated. Obv. Laureate Louis-Philippe head l. Rev. France seated atop arched pediment, holding railroad law tablets. Civil and military application of the new railroads are symbolized by winged Commerce holding torch and caduceus l., winged Mars with sword and shield dashing r. In the foreground, four train lines cross viaducts and bridges. Paris Mint, edge Antique prow-CUIVRE. With old wood rondel case, which has contracted over time, making the fit too snug today. A majestic and monumental piece which long enjoyed the status of the world's largest struck medal. (Est. $600-$900)
