Athena Nikephoros seated l., lion's head (resembling more a face tilted upwards with tufted hair) in l. field; trident l. in ex. 8.46 grams. Wine-red hues on reverse, Boscorealesque. Struck from the same rusted dies as the coin above. Has been tooled. Very Fine to Extremely Fine. (Est. $1,000-$1,500)
This interesting die-pair of Lysimachan Staters was acquired by the consignor's father Dallas, Texas-dealer Robert Schermerhorn at the legendary Farouk sale in 1954.
