1839'C' Choice Very Fine. This example has an orange tint and displays just problem-free even wear. A die defect gives the appearance that the '9' in the date was repunched over an '8'. This short lived type is always in demand from type collectors, and the 1839'C' is one of only two emissions of the type from the Charlotte mint. A mere 18,140 pieces were struck of this date, and only about 26,000 of this type were struck at the Charlotte mint. Here is a very pleasing survivor from this well collected and historical mint. PCGS VF30.
