King Sawshafan, mid-8th Century A.D. Broad Æ Unit, 28mm. Crowned bust r. The crown here is set...King Sawshafan, mid-8th Century A.D. Broad Æ Unit, 28mm. Crowned bust r. The crown here is set with a central annulet, a staggered group of three triangular adornments in the front and an ovelapping triplet of triangular adornments in the back. Rv. Horseman r. holding a bow (?); Khwarezmian legend around MR'Y MLK sy'wrspn. This coin is clearly not a debased version of the previous lot, for the crown here is completely different. It may signify another stage of the kingship or perhaps another region. Extremely rare. Light porosity. Very Fine. (Est. $300-$400)
