Uncirculated. Obv. The Kentucky statesman's bust l., vital dates below. Rev. Hand traces Clay's accomplishments on scroll. Deep glossy mahogany with the obverse a trifle darker. The statesman's son Thomas H. Clay wrote on August 26, 1852, ''Mr. R.C. Chandler of New-York City has shown me a copy of a Bronze Medal, commemorative of my father, now in course of publication by J.B. Richards. C.C. Wright... is the engraver... I find the likeness most excellent, and as a work of art I consider it inferior to no other.''
