Born to a Jewish family in Italy, Gerolanio Leviti was a shop-owner from 1882. He also owned an insurance agency and was the Consul for the Danish West Indies to the Dominican Republic. His tokens appear to be of French manufacture. Their legend from Virgil: Labor Improbus Omnia Vincit translates as ''Tireless work wins all.''
