David Gomez Fonseca was born to a Jewish family on the West Indian island of Tortola. He became a shopkeeper in 1880, and resided at Frederiksberggade 11 in Charlotte Amalie. He ordered tokens to the amount of $120. The tokens appear to be English-made.
