 GUATEMALA. Republic. 1 Peso, 1896. Uniface reverse impression of the 1896 1-Peso coin. Quetzal on scroll inscribed LIBERTAD/ 16/ DE/ SETIEMBRE/ DE/ 1821. Laurel, crossed swords and rifles behind. Plain edge, 36.32 grams, considerably heavier than the official weight of 25 grams. Type of KM 210. Boldly lustrous, slightly off center with some striking weakness at the lower left. The surface is somewhat irregular with scattered die rust suggesting a die taken from storage after possible earlier use. Blank side shows very faint concentric circles. Kurt Prober ----.
