By Johann Karl Hedlinger after Samuel Judin. About Uncirculated. Forrer II:462, after Smirnoff 224. Obv. Empress Anna bust r. Rev. Single-headed eagle on trophy of Turkish arms, Glory of the Empire, exergue Peace Restored 7 Sept. 1739. The dies for this medal, based on the original by Judin, were engraved by Swedish artist Hedlinger while he resided in St. Petersburg at the special invitation of Empress Anna, 1735-1737. Boldly reflective with subtle gray and gold toning, some hairlines appear in the fields. (Est. $200-$250)
