Here is an extraordinary early San Francisco coin whose deep red-gold lustre seems to heighten its reliefs to a level suggesting the Pioneer issues of this great center of the Gold Rush a couple of years earlier. A few marks are noted, but these are decidedly trivial compared to this coin's other remarkable qualities. 912 1861 AU $575.00 Strong About Uncirculated. Faint recutting is seen on the right side of the date. Lustre halos the reliefs, light yellow-gold shows very light wear with some inconspicuous hairlines. 913 1871 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $4,900.00 - on the cusp of fully Choice. This coin displays dramatic prooflike lustre with exceptional reflectivity. All reliefs and devices are crisply defined, standing out boldly from the gleaming background. A glass reveals scattered hairlines and some small surface marks, fewer than usually seen on these massive Gold coins. A few bagmarks are noted in the fields, but in terms of sheer appeal this is an extraordinary example of a date Akers calls ''decidedly rare'' in full Mint State. A premium quality coin that is sure to attract spirited bidding. PCGS MS60. 915 1874'CC' AU $3,750.00 About Uncirculated, on the threshold of fully Choice. Richly glowing canary-yellow lustre is very full on both sides. All reliefs are fully defined and evidence of circulation must be sought with a glass. In terms of overall visual appeal, this coin is in a class of its own, scarcely to be distinguished from Mint State. 916 1875 EF $400.00 Extremely Fine. Interesting red-gold lustre accentuates the bold reliefs, a shallow old hairline scratch crosses the upper obverse through 'L' of LIBERTY. 917 1875'CC' CH AU $1,500.00 Choice About Uncirculated and close to full Mint State. Bright lustre concentrates around the sharp reliefs. Actual circulation is light but the fields do bear a scattering of bagmarks and two tiny stains at stars 1, 6 and 7. 918 1876'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $650.00 Wonderfully robust lemon-yellow lustre saturates both sides of this especially delightful, well-struck example. 919 1876'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $630.00 Another. Deep red-gold lustre is substantial on both sides of this sharply struck piece. A flurry of tiny bag marks can be seen on the obverse. PCGS MS62. 922 1901'S' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $625.00 An exceptional strike joins full and relatively mark-free surfaces to create remarkably high quality. Scrutiny with a glass will discover some very faint obverse field lines. 924 1904 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $3,750.00 Incredibly deep, rich yellow-gold lustre saturates this example of a popular Liberty date. Wonderfully smooth fields complement microscopically exact detail on the head, eagle's feathers, stars and lettering. While not a rare date, 1904 in full Gem is the target for advanced date and type collectors and worthy of a premium bid. Another. Deep red-gold lustre offers pleasing cartwheel reflectivity on this example of the first Denver date. The essentially mark-free reverse is wholly Choice for powerful additional appeal.
