Substantial lustre underlies lightest peripheral russet and a faint overall gold toning with a russet streak at bust point. - the reverse near-Gem. Radiant lustre in the fields and appealing for the medium dark gray toning with blue and russet accents on both the obverse and reverse. Boldly executed by the dies with no signs of softness on the stars, curls or eagle. Even the overdate feature is clear within the top half of the '5'. 1834 Br.1. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated
|
CH BU |
$3,000.00 |
Die State I. With the initial look of a Proof coin as the fields are reflective, but the rims are not squared off enough and the die polishing does not extend into the recessed devices. Toned with a splash of gold in the lower right field and upper right on the obverse, the reverse more evenly toned a light gray with hints of gold starting to play into the fields. Moderate hairlines... more |

- and virtually Choice. Die State II. A few trivial scuffs in the lustre limit the grade. Bright and attractive, with a sharp strike on all but a couple of obverse stars, and the devices are all strongly impressed. No rim marks or significant bagmarks are present. A later die state with both die clashing and faint die cracks present. Final year of issue, and always in demand as such. |
