The obverse exhibits delicately muted mint frost beneath areas of pale olive-russet toning. The reverse enjoys wisps of jade and subtle rose iridescence over satiny surfaces. A rare issue at this high grade level, as the only New Orleans date to be coined of this two-year No Stars Seated Liberty type. It is doubtful...  more 2660 1842 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $400.00 This obverse shows a centered, level date, the reverse displays a die crack linking the right stem to the dentils below. Pale orange-gold toning amplifies the beauty of the subtly flashing smooth silver fields and notably boldly impressed, crisp devices. 2661 1849 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $200.00 - in strict terms of wear, but careful examination reveals traces of skillful cleaning in the past. The obverse shows a high and level date, reverse die crack crosses the 'A' in STATES. Strike and detail are splendid, deep blue-gray toning shows a tint of gold. 2662 1850 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $325.00 - with claims to the Choice category. Tawny golden centers contrast boldly with pale sea-green at the sharply squared rims to produce outstanding visual appeal. A die scratch links the right bow to the wreath stem on this distinctive reverse. 2663 1853 Arrows. Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $1,400.00 - and enjoying a chisel-sharp strike on both the obverse and reverse. The fields and devices are rippling with dense satiny lustre, and are wonderfully completed by varying shades of jade-green and lilac-blue iridescence. Here is a near-Gem example of unmatched beauty that would be impossible to duplicate. 2664 1853 Arrows CH AU $450.00 Choice About Uncirculated and only a wisp away from full Mint State. Lovely silver frost is laved in clear, glowing gold toning covering the smooth fields and meticulous reliefs. This reverse is unexpectedly rotated approximately 30 degrees counter-clockwise for added appeal. 2665 1855 Arrows. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $325.00 - and close to the Choice category. Stark white centers stand boldly forth within wide halos of lilac, russet and iridescent electric blue for the utmost visual distinction. These vivid colored enhance a meticulous strike to create a coin of exceptional overall beauty. 2666 1857'O' Large 'O'. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $600.00 - with the undeniable visual appeal of Choice. This coin's golden peripheral toning is exceptionally attractive, its wealth of glowing mint frost contrasting with the prevailing glowing rose-gold that shifts to deeper near-russet near the obverse rim to complement the wonderful reverse flash. 2667 1859 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $600.00 - and altogether free of visible surface marks. Velvet-smooth lustre is accompanied by a balanced blend of pale olive-gray and subtle rose iridescence. The stars at the right obverse lack their radial lines, otherwise the strike is generally sharp and full on both sides. 2668 1862 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $1,700.00 - on the cusp of fully Gem. Shimmering silken lustre is augmented by a hint of apricot-gold toning that is most pronounced at the peripheries. The lightly frosted devices exhibit an about average strike, with some areas of definite weakness in Miss Liberty's head and shoulder. Here is an exciting, very appealing specimen that would make a wonderful specimen for a Liberty Seated Dime set. 2669 1868 Brilliant Proof BR PF $375.00 - nearly of Choice quality. There is a pleasant offering of russet-golden toning that is augmented by areas of royal-blue peripheral iridescence. This same toning nicely conceals light hairlines. The fields, furthermore, retain a full measure of mirror-reflectivity. A total of 600 Proofs of this date were coined. 2670 1871 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $425.00 A warm, satiny glow is accented by traces of golden toning over a strike that is sharp and decisive. This coin displays bold die clash on both sides with a subtle die line in Liberty's left abdominal area, neither of which have received notice in studies of the Liberty Seated series. 2671 1873'S' Arrows. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $1,000.00 - or finer. Balanced medium russet fields and devices are embellished by delicate rose-gold and lilac iridescent overtones. The base of the '1' in the date shows repunching and the reverse shows a small, thin 'S' mintmark. A very scarce date, particularly in this state of preservation. 2672 1875'S' Mintmark below Bow. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $150.00 - essentially Choice. Wonderfully velvety fields present the lightest and clearest champagne gold for arresting beauty. Reverse displays fine, rambling die cracks under the prevailing frosty lustre. 2673 1876 Brilliant Proof BR PF $425.00 - and approaching a Choice designation. A lovely liquid-mirror glow is enhanced by attractive jade and pale lilac iridescence. This date offers a Proof mintage of 1,150 pieces. 2674 1876 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $575.00 - with the superficial look of still higher grade. Generally luxuriant velvet mint bloom is complemented by tantalizing areas of peripheral lilac and gold. The date slopes slightly upward, and the reverse wreath shows a tiny die defect on the inner central corn ear. 2675 1877 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $325.00 - and on the cusp of the Choice category. The date slopes upward, and bold die clash is evident on either side. Tobacco-gold at the peripheries lightens to pale gold at the centers for obvious visual appeal. This coin's bold obverse must be characterized as fully Choice. 2676 1877'CC' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $325.00 Medium gold toning over nearly pristine surfaces. The strike is bold and gives a good accounting of this Longacre's design. The lustre is plentiful abeit a bit subdued. A very plesasing example for a high grade date or type set. 2677 1877'S' Type II reverse. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $500.00 - bordering on fully Choice. Here is a lovely, lightly prooflike specimen that is quite richly toned in deep amber-gold and hints of rose. The strike is about average for the issue, but the eye appeal is tremendous for this 'S' mint Dime. 2678 1880 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $500.00 - overall. A glowing, well mirrored obverse enjoys claims to the Gem category. The reverse reflectivity, however, is a trifle subdued. Both sides display rich golden toning that is highlighted by lovely mauve peripheral iridescence. Scarce as only 1,355 Proofs and 36,000 circulation strikes were produced. 2679 1880 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $800.00 - and a well struck, virtual Gem example. Softly glowing silky lustre boasts hints of under-stated reflectivity. There is a gentle shade of peripheral lavender-mauve blending with subtle gold at the centers. 2680 1882 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $200.00 This obverse displays a distinctive date with '2' showing both a broken top and a microscopic die defect right of the ball. Flawless silver frost underlies the most delicate gold with deeper champagne hugging the rims. 2681 1882 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $200.00 The upper loop of the '2' in the date appears broken. Reflective fields and satiny-silver devices contrast boldly with this coin's old-gold peripheral toning to create the most remarkable appeal. 2682 1883 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $200.00 - in terms of wear. There are traces of a possible misplaced '8' hidden in the base just below Liberty's drapery and above the first '8' in the date. Careful examination reveals evidence of a past cleaning that has since been muted by a pleasant shade of violet toning. 2683 1885'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $3,500.00 This is a pleasing example exhibiting rich lavender-golden toning over deeply glowing underlying mint frost. Only 43,690 pieces were struck, and fully Uncirculated examples must be regarded as exceptionally rare. 2684 1886 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $250.00 Deep russet and gold frames the lightly toned but lustrous centers. A good strike further defines this lovely coin. 2685 1886'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $1,200.00 The obverse displays a high date that slopes downward from left to right. Golden toning is accented by traces of peripheral mauve over a full measure of icy mint frost. This lower mintage date is notoriously difficult to acquire within this desirable grade range. 2686 1887'S' CH AU $140.00 Choice About Uncirculated with rich mint frost giving the visual quality of full Mint State. First 'S' in STATES shows only a partial upper loop, and a fine die line is seen in the lower loop of the reverse mintmark. Its marvelously bold lustre places this coin in a category by itself. 2687 1889 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $650.00 - and a sharp, well mirrored specimen. Aqua-blue and pale green-golden toning encircles the majority of either periphery. The remainder of the coin is accented by a blush of pale russet-mauve. The proof mintage for this date totals just 711 pieces. 2688 1890 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $110.00 - with claims to the Choice category. Bright semi-reflective fields draw attention to the crisply detailed design features and perfect reverse die state. A tantalizing trace of glowing gold can be seen at the rims.
