About Uncirculated in strict terms of wear. There is a minor wave in the planchet and a glass finds a few trivial surface marks. Both sides of this lovely specimen are beautifully toned in pearl gray flavored with pale, iridescent blue. This coin displays a very typical reverse state showing the eagle's head indistinctly detailed.

About Uncirculated. Virtually two-tone silver-gray and russet-gold toning dramatizes both sides. Centers display unusually crisp details for added appeal. This coin represents an extremely high grade for the date and variety. The editors of the John Reich catalogue knew of only three examples that might grade higher, Lovejoy:9 and the Hain Family coin being among the nicest seen; the...  more

Very Fine. Dark gray fields with lighter silver on the devices. This is the usual later die state with evidence of heavy clashing in the fields. The surfaces are a bit rough near the rims, but the coin retains a decent appearance for the grade. The tops of the peripheral devices are weak in areas from wear, typical of this date. NGC VF25.

- and reflective in the fields. Toned with deep gun metal blue and gray over lustre. The strike is reasonably sharp on the obverse including the stars, although the eagle's talons display minor softness. Moderate handling marks are best seen with a magnifier, and this coin is identifiable by a tiny nick below the 'F' in OF. While not a particularly scarce variety, the present coin is worthy...  more

Jewel-sharp strike is vividly apparent in the faceted stars and sharply toothed borders. Steely silver surfaces are wonderfully smooth and appealing. The right base of '1' is missing in the well-centered '10 C' below the eagle. This coin can only be called a lovely, high grade example. - and altogether free of visible surface marks. Velvet-smooth lustre is accompanied by a balanced blend of pale olive-gray and subtle rose iridescence. The stars at the right obverse lack their radial lines, otherwise the strike is generally sharp and full on both sides.

The lightly frosted devices exhibit an about average strike, with some areas of definite weakness in Miss Liberty's head and shoulder. Here is an exciting, very appealing specimen that would make a wonderful specimen for a Liberty Seated Dime set.
2669 1868 Brilliant Proof BR PF $375.00

- nearly of Choice quality. There is a pleasant offering of russet-golden toning that is augmented by areas of royal-blue peripheral iridescence. This same toning nicely conceals light hairlines.
