A magnificent example for the collector who simply must have Gem quality. Toned with delicate pastel hues on the obverse and reverse, which range through blue and russet-gold over strong lustre. The strike is sharp on most of Liberty's curls save for a small area behind her ear, and the lower curls on her shoulder. This coin is similarly well struck on the reverse, where most of the feathers...  more

1837 No Stars. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated. Deep iridescent blue with some light rose here and there....
Deep iridescent blue with some light rose here and there. A decent strike although the denticles on the left reverse rim are a bit weak. A small die line from last 'A' to denticle.

1849'O' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated. Marvelously full glowing frosty lustre bathes both obverse...
Marvelously full glowing frosty lustre bathes both obverse and reverse on this remarkable New Orleans coin. One of 600,000 struck, of which seemingly few were preserved in any of the higher grades. Careful examination reveals a hair-fine scratch crossing the obverse and a die crack through 'A' of AMERICA. Here is a coin that must be called exceptional by any standard of measurement.
2640 1853 No Arrows. Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $600.00

- on the cusp of fully Gem. Here is a magnificent coin boasting the brightest white central devices and attractive pale old-gold and orange toning circling the rims. The strike is bold and the surfaces are virtually mark-free on this specimen of the final year of the No Arrows variety. Here is an issue that is more difficult to locate in the upper Mint State echelons.

A rare early Brilliant Proof issue that has excellent surfaces and eye appeal. The color is the desired light silver-gray, with specks of golden toning near the rims, particularly on the reverse. The strike is full and complete, with bold curls on Liberty's head and hand. Each star is bold. Identifiable by a tiny planchet flake or nick on the right obverse field close to Liberty but between...  more

1857 Very Choice Brilliant Proof. A boldly struck example of this elusive date in Brilliant Proof,...
A boldly struck example of this elusive date in Brilliant Proof, with full border denticles, a feature almost never seen on circulation strikes of this year. The color is deep blue and gold, on both sides and rather dark, and no surface problems present themselves. This is clearly a near-Gem example of the date on which bold stars and definition in Liberty are the rule. Identifiable...  more

Here is radiant example of one of the most elusive dates in the Half Dime series. This magnificent Proof displays strongly reflective liquid-glass fields and lightly frosted devices flushed with diffused tawny gold. Only 470 Proofs were struck, along with a supposed circulation strike mintage of 48,000. Modern researchers are certain that in reality the circulating coins numbered closer...  more

Wonderfully glass-smooth fields are boldly white, and show delicate flecks of gold. The crisply defined reliefs show a subtle hint of palest gold for pleasing, understated elegance. This example of the 600 Proofs struck is a piece of outstanding overall quality and appeal.
