Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 1451 1941'S' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $750.00 The key date to the short set of Walking Liberty Half Dollars. The usual weakness on Liberty's head and hand preclude a higher grade, but the surfaces are clean, lustrous and pleasing. 1452 1942 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $550.00 Bright and reflective with a touch of gold forming on the obverse and a scattering of minute russet specks on the reverse rim. Free of spots or hairlines, and desirable. 1453 1942 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $525.00 Bathed in the typical hazy toning over the boldly reflective surfaces. A tiny edge collar break is found above the 'B' of LIBERTY, and slight doubling is found on 'ST' of TRUST. A lovely example of this type. 1454 1942 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $525.00 Another matching the prior coin with milky white toning over the surfaces with a touch of gold, and a minute edge collar break above the 'B' of LIBERTY. Slight doubling on 'ST' of TRUST, caused during the die hubbing process. Final year of Proofs for this series, as World War II disrupted their issue, and the series ended in 1947 before Proof coinage resumed. 1455 1942 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $525.00 A glorious Gem example of this date, with excellent surfaces and reflectivity. The usual haze is at a minimum. 1456 1942 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $440.00 More hazy than others in this impressive run of Proof Walking Liberties, but the surfaces and mirror fields are undisturbed save for a thin line at the center of the reverse. 1457 1942 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $525.00 Another coin with a solid strike, average haze from the mint wrappers, and clean surfaces. This one is more cloudy than most, but naturally appealing. 1458 1942 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $90.00 A generous strike and clean surfaces please the eye. Nearly Superb quality but for a couple of tiny specks. 1459 1942'D' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $200.00 Irregular golden streaks on both sides over lustre, with a good strike to the centers. 1460 1942'S' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $140.00 Radiant lustre and attractive peripheral russet-gold, but the usual central San Francisco softness which is so pervasive during this period. 1461 1943 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $80.00 Rich golden iridescent toning near the rims, and rather sharp on Liberty's head and hand. Vibrant lustre throughout and a delight to study. 1462 1943'D' Superb Gem Brilliant Uncirculated SUP GEM BU $110.00 Outstanding quality and lustre throughout, with a hint of peripheral sunset haze. The surfaces are wonderfully clean, but the strike does show minor softness on Liberty's thumb. 1463 1943'S' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $120.00 Lustrous and toned with faint gold on the obverse, mottled irregular gold on the reverse. The strike is typical, with softness on the thumb and hand. 1464 1944 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $50.00 A couple of tiny ticks are found in the wing feathers, but this one retains strong lustre and has earned a blush of iridescent hues near the rim. 1465 1944'D' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $60.00 Excellent lustre and surfaces, with a hint of toning starting to form. There are a couple of minute hairlines on the high points of the reverse. 1466 1944'S' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $200.00 Hazy gold toning with darker flecks near the rims. An average or better strike with partial definition on Liberty's hand, with many of this date far less well-defined at the centers. Scarce thus. 1467 1945 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $65.00 Blazing mint lustre beneath a layer of whitish haze and gold. Boldly struck by the dies, with excellent surfaces to please the eye. 1468 1945'D' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $50.00 - and rather deeply toned. Frosty lustre beneath the dappled gold toning on both sides. Sharp and desirable. 1469 1945'S' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $50.00 Great color and lustre, but the strike is soft at the center, as nearly always seen for this date. A beautiful coin nevertheless. 1470 1946 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $50.00 Delicate iridescent toning and attractive, a couple of nicks from Gem. 1471 1946'D' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $60.00 Great color and iridescent color, but the usual strike and a nick or two from Gem. 1472 1946'S' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $50.00 Delicate toning on both rims, and strong lustre. The strike is better than most, but not quite complete on Liberty's hand, a rare event for a San Francisco issue. 1473 1947 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $175.00 Lustrous and a decent strike on the centers. 1474 1947'D' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $120.00 A couple of minor ticks and iridescent toning over lustre. 1475 Group Lot of 20th Century Half Dollars. 1934 CH BU $120.00 Choice About Uncirculated; 1940'S' Brilliant Uncirculated or better, typically flat centers; 1941'S' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated with lustrous surfaces and a soft central strike; 1942 Choice About Uncirculated; 1945'D' About Uncirculated or nearly so and 1957 Gem Brilliant Proof.
