Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $550.00 - and a virtual Gem but for well concealed slide marks on the central reverse and a couple of tiny nicks above the motto. The strike is full and complete with strong definition on Liberty's thumb and most of the skirt lines. Starting to tone with rich coppery-golden hues, iridescent traces and a couple of specks of russet near the rims. Another radiant coin which boasts the satiny lustre peculiar to the first two years of this design. The strike is quite sharp, with good definition on Liberty's thumb, skirt lines and the eagle, although a few breast and leg feathers lack...  more 1394 1917 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $225.00 A well struck coin that has strong lustre, clean surfaces and a hint of delicate gold toning. Widely scattered flecks of dark russet on the obverse, and attractive iridescence near the rims. 1395 1917'D' Mintmark on Obverse. Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $1,300.00 - and bordering on the Gem classification. The central devices show typical striking softness on Liberty's thumb, skirt lines and the eagle's thigh and breast, but most of the definition is present in these areas. Lustrous and attractive, with a blush of golden haze and peripheral flecks of darker gold toning starting to form. A scarcer date and always in demand in all Uncirculated grades....  more 1396 1917'D' Mintmark on Reverse. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $800.00 At first glance this coin has the appearance of Gem quality, but the surfaces have been gently cleaned in the past which weakened the lustre a tad on the high points of the design. On the obverse there is evidence that this coin went through a counting machine which left telltale disturbances just inside the rim from above Liberty's head to the 4:00 position. This drop was caused by a sharp decline in economic activity as the economy faltered while converting from the production of war goods to peace goods. The strike is a tad soft on Liberty's head and hand, as nearly always found. A scarce date that is overshadowed by...  more 1412 1927'S' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $1,500.00 Despite some central striking weakness this coin has the appeal and surface quality expected for the grade. A few minor signs of handling in the right obverse field. The softness continues on the central reverse. Lustrous and toned with speckled russet and blue near the obverse rim, and pleasing. 1413 1928'S' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $4,000.00 A radiant, lustrous coin that boasts delicate golden toning around the rims, with the centers remaining white. The strike is a touch weak on Liberty's thumb, as nearly always found. Excellent surfaces and quality for the grade, with virtually no signs of handling problems or scuffs. Identifiable by a vertical bagmark down the eagle's eye and head. Another outstanding collector coin. 1414 1929'D' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $1,400.00 - or very nearly so. Bright and lustrous, with less toning than generally seen on the coins in this set. The strike is sharp on Liberty's head and thumb, which show more definition, a feature so often lacking on the earlier San Francisco coins of this series. A couple of scattered scuffs and nicks, but none are of consequence. 1415 1929'S' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $2,000.00 Toned with a bright orange-gold ring near the rim on the obverse, the reverse with an arc of iridescent pastel hues mixed with similar orange-gold. Strong lustre and sharp, with Liberty's thumb outlined, and partial details on her head. A couple of random scuffs are present on the eagle's large wing, but these are offset by the impressive toning. 1416 1933'S' CH AU $800.00 Choice About Uncirculated, virtually Mint State but for light friction on the highest points of the design. The coin is bathed in mint lustre, and has a ring of peripheral gold. A thin scratch in the lower portion of Liberty's skirt, another on the 'I' of IN. Scarce and in demand for this Depression era Half Dollar. 1417 1934'D' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $275.00 - virtually Choice. Hazy gold toning over the entire coin, but not enough to contain the lustre. Generally sharp, with Liberty's thumb clearly outlined, but slightly soft on her head details. Excellent quality for the grade. 1418 1934'S' Superb Gem Brilliant Uncirculated SUP GEM BU $1,400.00 The surfaces are free of all but the most trivial signs of contact, and the lustre and strike are exceptional for this San Francisco issue. A coin that would be difficult to improve upon, and certainly one of the better examples to survive. Blazing lustre throughout, and just a hint of toning starting to form. If you demand top quality, then here is one to pursue. 1419 1934'S' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $450.00 - or essentially so. Well struck by the dies and well preserved, with minimal signs of handling. There are faint hairlines, and these are offset by the attractive colorful toning on the rim. The strike is sharp on the skirt lines and Liberty's thumb, with just a hair of weakness on Liberty's head. 1420 1935 Superb Gem Brilliant Uncirculated SUP GEM BU $300.00 A gorgeous coin that boasts delicate golden toning with hazy iridescence and a firm strike. The surfaces are excellent and scrutiny fails to find significant detractions of any merit. A tiny two reed tick is found just right of the branch on the obverse, otherwise the broad, open fields are virtually pristine. Amazing quality that any collector will appreciate.
