Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 1368 1908 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $750.00 Ever so subtle shades of delicate tan-gold are a bit deeper at the peripheries. The underlying fields are deeply mirrored, and the devices provide a significant degree of contrast. A premium example, and one of only 545 Proofs struck of this issue. 1369 1908'D' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $900.00 - and a solid Gem were it not for a few ever so minor random obverse lines at Liberty's neck and cheek that are largely concealed by a pale shade of golden toning. In fact, many would have no reservations in assigning a full Gem grading to this beauty. The strike is entirely assertive, and the surfaces are drenched in luxuriant velvet-like mint bloom. 1370 1908'O' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $900.00 Here is a well balanced, highly compelling example of this scarcity. The fields and design elements are rippling with wonderfully dense satin-like mint bloom. A hint of golden toning augments the upper obverse periphery, and the strike is far sharper than that of the typical specimen. Outstanding and well deserving of a premium bid. 1371 1908'S' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $2,000.00 Icy-white surfaces are bathed in full mint frost.The strike is quite sharp, and there is only a trace of golden toning that is evident at the extreme upper obverse periphery. The population of this date at or above the grade level offered here is exceptionally limited despite its rather high mintage. In fact, such high quality specimens can legitimately be classified as rare. 1372 1909 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $700.00 Light slide marks are evident at Liberty's cheek and neck on the obverse, otherwise this jewel-like example is truly a beauty. The definition is razor-sharp, and the fields are blindingly well mirrored. Delicate lilac toning completes either side. One of 650 Proofs coined of this date. 1373 1909'O' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $3,200.00 - and a distinctive example. Light obverse die swelling is evident at Liberty's neck, however the strike remains very assertive. Full satin-frost is embellished by rich russet toning at the peripheries. The surface quality, furthermore, is far smoother than that of the average Mint State survivor from this elusive issue. In fact, acquiring an example that is any nicer than the currently...  more 1374 1909'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $650.00 - with claims to the Choice category. There are a few light obverse slide marks on Liberty's cheek, otherwise we would easily classify this coin as Choice or better. Razor-sharp legends and design features are accompanied by shimmering satin velvet mint bloom. The visual allure of this example is gratifyingly completed by olive-golden and iridescent toning at the peripheries. 1375 1910 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $1,150.00 - and ever so close to a full Gem distinction. Delicate golden toning accents underlying glassy-mirrored fields. The devices exhibit frosty contrast and needle-sharp definition. The survivors from the 551 piece Proof mintage of this date are very largely inferior in quality to this highly captivating specimen. 1376 1910'S' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $4,500.00 - and only a whisper away from a Gem classification. There are some ever so faint obverse slide marks that are visible with some effort at Liberty's cheek. This well struck specimen would otherwise easily warrant a full Gem designation, as the surfaces at every other location on this coin are virtually flawless. Unbroken, deep velvet mint bloom drenches either side of this glorious specimen,...  more 1377 1911 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $1,300.00 A veil of pale golden toning embellishes premium quality, fully mirrored fields and frosted devices. Here is a marvelous, dazzling cameo proof that reveals only a limited number trivial imperfections under very close scrutiny. Only 543 Proofs were coined of this date. The overwhelming number of survivors from this proof mintage, furthermore, are clearly inferior to the specimen offered...  more 1378 1911'D' Superb Gem Brilliant Uncirculated SUP GEM BU $9,000.00 - and a very early strike from this pair of dies. The definition on either side is quite sharp; there being only a trace of softness at the eleventh and twelfth obverse stars, as well as at the juncture of the shield and right wing on the reverse. The obverse field still exhibits light die polish lines, and the reverse features remarkable prooflike reflectivity. These highly distinctive striking...  more 1379 1911'S/S' Fivaz-Stanton 50¢-1911S-501 GEM BU $4,000.00 There is clear evidence of doubling at the upper inside curve of the mintmark, as well as to the left of the lower serif. This undertype mintmark appears as if it might possibly be a trifle smaller than the primary mintmark. Gem Brilliant Uncirculated. There is a single ever so faint obverse line at Liberty's jaw, otherwise this pale golden, sublimely smooth specimen approaches perfection. There are a few very minor, inconspicuous obverse specks, as well as some unevenness in coloration on the reverse. The overall appearance of this example, however, is quite smooth and appealing. Serene, frosty devices and fully mirrored fields are awash in shades of lilac and russet toning. Fully vibrant icy mint frost is accented by an overlying blush of delicate golden toning. The strike is assertive, and the surface quality is quite impressive for a coin of this design. In fact, were it not for a single ever so trivial obverse facial line, we would be tempted to call this coin a full Gem. 1382 1912'S' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated SUP GEM BU $5,500.00 - and a simply splendid example. A luxuriant offering of velvet-silk mint lustre embellishes virtually pristine fields and design elements. The strike is very well balanced, and is complemented by a delicate veil of golden toning on either side. Quite rare in this condition. Liquid-mirror fields nicely contrast against frosted legends and design features. Were it not for the aforementioned bruise, the surfaces are wonderfully free of lines or other imperfections, and are handsomely completed by a shade of pale russet-rose toning that bathes either side. The scarcity of Mint State circulation strikes of this date has...  more 1384 1913'D' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $1,000.00 Well struck and enjoying semi-reflective lustre in the obverse field. The reverse is entirely satiny. Only a limited number of extremely light, random obverse lines are discernible beneath pale golden toning at Liberty's cheek and neck. Despite this minor shortcoming, this coin remains both wonderfully attractive, and far above the norm from the standpoint of quality. 1385 1913'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $1,300.00 - virtually warranting a Choice classification. Pale olive-jade toning accompanies underlying velvet-like mint lustre. Were it not for some subtle obverse facial disturbance that is largely minimized by the toning, we would have no reservations in grading this attractive coin Choice or better. Quite scarce in the condition offered here, and well deserving of a significant premium. 1386 1914 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $1,100.00 - and bordering on the Gem category. The reverse is easily that of a full Gem. Olive-russet and subtly iridescent toning bathes either side of this razor-sharp, glowing specimen. This date offers the lowest proof mintage in the entire Barber Half Dollar series (only 380 pieces). Mint State circulation ness strikes of this date, furthermore, are certainly among the most difficult Philadelphia...  more 1387 1914'S' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $2,700.00 A delicate blush of lavender-golden toning is highlighted by traces of somewhat deeper iridescence at the reverse periphery. The underlying surfaces are free of all but the most inconsequential of imperfections, and the lustre abounds in velvet-silk richness. Scarce at any Mint State grade level, and quite rare in the condition offered here. 1388 1915 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $3,250.00 - and a simply stunning specimen. Frosty legends and devices are afloat in glassy-mirrored fields of utmost beauty. The surface quality is absolutely outstanding, and the coloration is lovely. Emerald, mauve-gold, and pale blue iridescence adorns both the obverse and reverse peripheries. A mere 450 Proofs were coined of this date, the survivors of which enjoy an inordinately high level...  more 1389 1915'D' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $400.00 - and enjoying very pleasing visual appeal. A blend of pale lavender and golden toning is featured on this well struck, fully satiny example. 1390 1915'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $360.00 Icy-satin surfaces are sharp and vibrant. Some areas of microscopic granularity at the upper obverse periphery indicate that this specimen was very gently cleaned at some point in the past.
