Here is a coin whose strike resulted in partial head and shield. This example of the short-lived first type is enriched by generally bold lustre and is perhaps only a few scattered obverse field tics from a substantially higher grade. This coin will reward careful examination.
528 1917 Type I. Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $1,450.00

- on the cusp of fully Superb. A diamond sharp strike is seen in the near-medallic Full Head and Shield, combining with richly glowing silver-white lustre for remarkable overall quality. PCGS MS66FH.
529 1917 Type I. Brilliant Uncirculated. Full Head and Shield BU $225.00

Gently cleaned long ago, otherwise warranting a higher grade. Toned with dark peripheral gold on the obverse, the reverse with some haze in the fields. A remarkably sharp strike even for this issue, and a short-lived type coin. Great eye appeal for this issue and always popular with collectors.
530 1917'S' Type I. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $300.00

Full Head and Shield join deeply textured fields to provide remarkable overall beauty, assisted by a touch of palest clear rose.
531 1917 Type II. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $240.00

Full Head and Shield herald a bold and complete strike, complemented by light violet toning of great subtlety.
532 1918'S' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $300.00

A wealth of softly glowing silver-white mint frost highlights this wartime coin's superb strike.
533 1920 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated. Full Head CH BU $350.00

Pale rose and gray toning over surfaces that are well preserved and attractive. The strike is full, including the inner shield lines and rivets. A very pretty coin that will make its new owner proud.
534 1920 CH AU $160.00

Choice About Uncirculated, a whisper away from full Mint State. Splendid full lustre covers a delightfully complete strike. NGC AU58.
535 1925 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $120.00

Here is a boldly struck example enriched by outstanding silver surfaces offering a wisp of palest gold.
536 1925 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $200.00

This virtual Gem exhibits the purest silver-white surfaces to complement its splendid strike.
537 1926'D' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $160.00

- perhaps a bit better. Full mint lustre over bright surfaces. The head is weak as is usual as well as the central obverse area near the inner shield. Still quite lovely for the grade.
538 1928'D' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $160.00

An area of iridescent toning on both sides gives this coin its character. A mediocre strike is apparent.
539 1929 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $220.00

- with claims to Gem. Full Head. A manifestly handsome coin clad in sparkling silvery-white.
