1786 New Jersey Copper. Maris 16-L. Protruding Tongue. Rahway Mint. 155.9 gns. Choice Very Fine. Glossy,...
155.9 gns. Choice Very Fine. Glossy, light chestnut brown surfaces are the rule on this very eye-appealing survivor of this Rahway product. Struck a bit off-center, bringing the complete triangle-shaped denticles into view at the left of both sides.
154 1786 New Jersey Copper. Maris 18-M. Bridle. Rahway Mint AU $8,000.00
1786 New Jersey Copper. Maris 18-M. Bridle. Rahway Mint. 138.4 gns. About Uncirculated, essentially...
138.4 gns. About Uncirculated, essentially Choice. '6' punched first into the plow and then corrected; the bottom loop and upper end of the secondary '6' visible below and above the plow blade above the main '6'. Here is an exquisite example of the middle die state featuring a full ''Bridle'' but lacking the extra cracks and breaks seen on Ford 1:100. Surfaces are choice and glossy and...  more
155 1786 New Jersey Copper. Maris 21-N (R-3). Rahway Mint CH F $350.00

148.3 gns. Choice Fine. Light golden brown surfaces exhibits ruddy tones in places of both sides. Here is a well-centered example of this Maris variety. Struck medal turn, as are most all 21-N's.
156 1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 23-R. Rahway Mint VG to F $120.00

135.4 gns. Very Good to Fine. Here is a golden brown, perfectly smooth specimen that has some planchet laminations on the obverse. An appealing type coin. Reverse shield is smooth but devoid of detail, which is not unusual for the variety.
157 1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 37-X (R-7-). Late Rahway or Elizabethtown Mint CH $18,000.00
1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 37-X (R-7-). Late Rahway or Elizabethtown Mint. 143.8 gns. Fine, essentially...
143.8 gns. Fine, essentially Choice. Light golden brown surfaces are quite smooth on both sides, with only some minor, inherent planchet striae inhabiting the fields of both sides and a minor area of reddish deposit around the '17' of the date. The surfaces are quite superior for this rare variety. Struck a bit off-center toward the lower left on the obverse, bringing the die edge into...  more
158 1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 48-g. Rahway Mint CH F $260.00

145.6 gns. Choice Fine. Mahogany brown with darker fields and ruddy-brown areas. A glass reveals ancient hairlines that are not visible to the naked eye. Here is an attractive example of this ''outlined shield'' type.
159 1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 48-g. Rahway Mint. Double Struck. G $160.00

143.6 gns. Good. Medium brown with lighter brown highlights, this coin exhibits some minor as-made planchet flaws and a few minor circulation marks. The double striking is not visible on the obverse but is quite dramatic on the reverse, with secondary shield outline and vertical stripes visible below the main shield.
160 1788 New Jersey Copper. Maris 49-f (R-5). Head Left CH VF $6,000.00
1788 New Jersey Copper. Maris 49-f (R-5). Head Left. 154.9 gns. Choice Very Fine, or a bit better....
154.9 gns. Choice Very Fine, or a bit better. Surfaces are microscopically porous, but they are worn quite smoothly and evenly, creating a hard and decidedly glossy result. Dark ebony brown with the awesome patina expected of an ancient bronze coin. About as well struck as could be expected of the variety in this die state; the obverse is rather severely sunken behind the horse's main...  more
161 1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 52-i (R-3). Rahway Mint EF $5,000.00
1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 52-i (R-3). Rahway Mint. 147.1 gns. Extremely Fine. Hard and glossy,...
147.1 gns. Extremely Fine. Hard and glossy, chestnut brown surfaces are uniform in tone and texture, with the reverse exhibiting a ruddier brown patina. Some very light planchet flakiness is best viewed under strong magnification and is not terribly visible to the unaided eye. Centered a bit towards the lower left on the obverse and towards the upper left on the reverse. Very well struck...  more
162 1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 56-n VF $500.00

Camel Head. Late Rahway or Elizabethtown Mint. 117.2 gns. Very Fine. Surfaces are essentially problem-free and are a very pleasing chocolate brown hue with ruddy overtones. Clearly overstruck, although the undertype is not readily apparent. A little bit of legwork will probably unravel the identity of the undertype, which is best visible through the upper parts of the shield. The undertype...  more
163 1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 56-n. Camel Head F to VF $220.00

Late Rahway or Elizabethtown Mint. 137.3 gns. Fine to Very Fine. Light brown with some porosity and verdigris, this specimen is clearly overstruck on a Connecticut host, whose remains are clearly visible on both obverse and reverse.
164 1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 56-n. Camel Head F $150.00
1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 56-n. Camel Head. Late Rahway or Elizabethtown Mint. 111.7 gns. Fine....
Late Rahway or Elizabethtown Mint. 111.7 gns. Fine. Medium brown surfaces host a hint of burgundy as well as microscopic porosity that does not detract. Probably overstruck, although not clearly so. The reverse exhibits a gigantic, unidentified counterstamp 'IL' in thin, serifed letters.
165 1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 64-t AB EF $1,800.00
1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 64-t. Morristown Mint on Morristown Mint (Large) Planchet. Double Struck....
Morristown Mint on Morristown Mint (Large) Planchet. Double Struck. 126.3 gns. About Extremely Fine. Glossy, deep chestnut brown surfaces exhibit only trivial roughness in the fields. The centers of both sides are weakly struck and rough as a result, a condition endemic to these lighter, thinner versions of the large planchets. Double striking has expanded this coin to a wopping 31mm...  more
166 1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 72-z (R-6-). Plaited Mane F $1,700.00
1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 72-z (R-6-). Plaited Mane. 125.3 gns. Fine. Surfaces are dark brown...
125.3 gns. Fine. Surfaces are dark brown and quite rough as a result of porosity and some ancient scratches across top left corner of shield. The surface quality must be forgiven as these ''Plaited Mane'' varieties are all scarce to rare and must be pursued when they come up for sale. Very little remains of the New Jersey's legends, although positive attribution can be made from the style of...  more
