Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $4,000.00 An exquisite strike is the first of this coin's many attractions. Extensive mint red lingers on the glass-smooth surfaces along with a complement of light brown, both contrasting with a delightful sheen of tantalizing blue. One of 900 Proofs struck of this most sought-after Indian Cent date, almost as difficult to locate in higher Mint State grades as it is in Proof. 1472 1877 3¢ Nickel. Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $2,100.00 Flawless silvery lustre saturates both sides of this meticulously struck coin. The planchet was evidently carefully selected and shows none of the problems of granularity noted by the later Walter Breen in his comments on this date. Fields are generously reflective and the devices are fully crisp. The date shows a filled upper loop in '8' and there is a hair-thin struck-through line on the reverse. This coin's striking quality is dramatized by its partial wire rim and in its wealth of meticulous detail on both sides. For sheer quality, rarity and arresting beauty, it would be difficult or perhaps impossible to duplicate today. 1475 1877 20¢. Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $3,100.00 This coin's strike shows medallic quality, highlighting Liberty's flowing tunic folds and all feathers on the minutely detailed eagle. Gleaming mirror-reflective silver fields are edged in clear red-gold of exceptional delicacy and beauty. Some fine hairlines in the fields are ironically made visible by the absence of toning.
