This date is always in demand as the first struck for circulation, though its high face value appears to have successfully inhibited the setting aside of any significant number of Uncirculated examples at the time. The present coin is well above the average grade...  more 2514 1852 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $5,000.00 A frosty coin that is seldom found in Uncirculated grades, and usually with far more bagmarks than seen here. Liberty's face and neck have minimal handling marks. The strike is typical for the period, with complete definition on all but the uppermost devices. Radial die cracks are present on the obverse and reverse. There is some underlying reflectivity on the obverse which further enhances this coin. The strike is good for this early New Orleans date although it is not full. A coin that should please most collectors of this date. 2516 1854 Small Date. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $4,250.00 - and just bordering on a fully Choice distinction. The base of the '1' in the date shows clear repunching under magnification. Premium quality surfaces are drenched in a full measure of pale orange-golden, icy mint bloom. With the exception of a light reverse abrasion near the left wing tip of the eagle, this enticing, wonderfully balanced specimen is free of any imperfection that warrants...  more 2517 1854 Small Date CH AU $1,600.00 Choice About Uncirculated. A wisp of friction is barely detectable on this virtually Mint State example. Some trivial obverse marks are apparent on this well preserved coin. The NGC encapsulation notes incorrectly that this coin is the much rarer Large Date variety. NGC AU55. 2518 1855 AU $810.00 About Uncirculated. Typical light wear is restricted to the top of the hair strands. Sunset orange surfaces create an impressive visual appeal. Perhaps gently cleaned long ago. 2519 1865 CH AU $1,400.00 Choice About Uncirculated. Abundant mint lustre enhances this popular Civil War dated Double Eagle. Some very light surface lines hardly distract. 2520 1868'S' AU $810.00 About Uncirculated. Coppery surfaces show evidence of a past cleaning. Otherwise bold detail is still quite evident. 2521 1868'S' AU $800.00 About Uncirculated. Champagne gold surfaces surround minimally worn devices. The obverse appears to have been gently wiped some time ago. 2522 1873 Open 3. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $700.00 - in terms of detail. A splendidly struck coin that retains pleasing orange-peel surfaces. Close scrutiny reveals some very faint lines. 2523 1875 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $750.00 Scintillating cartwheel lustre leaps from the fields of this brilliant orange-gold specimen. Bagmarks are quite numerous, as is normal for Uncirculated specimens of Type II Double Eagles. In fact, this is a rather appealing example of this type that is difficult to find in full Mint State. 2524 1875 BU $775.00 A solid Brilliant Uncirculated example and displaying surface quality that somewhat surpasses the norm, particularly for Type II specimens such as this. Warm satin-frost bathes either side, and enriches pale orange-golden toning. Although there are certainly some marks, the appeal is superior to the ordinary survivor of this type. 2525 1877'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $600.00 - and enjoying entirely vibrant frosty mint bloom on both the obverse and reverse. Light bag abrasions are evident in the obverse field and at the rims, however the overall presentation remains quite viable. 2526 1877'S' CH AU $1,850.00 Choice About Uncirculated; 1899 Extremely Fine; 1911'D' Saint Gaudens. Choice About Uncirculated, dipped. All display areas of lustre, the last shows bold orange-peel fields. 3 pieces. 2527 1888'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $750.00 Bright natural surfaces with scattered obverse marks over field and devices. 2528 1892'S' Breen 7312. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $750.00 - with claims to Choice. This is probably Breen's so-called 2/1, although there are no clear signs of a '1' below the '2' in the date. Rather, there are just some marks in the die in the upper loop of the '2' which may or may not be a '1', '2' or other digit. This variety is ''very rare'' according to Breen. The surfaces of the coin are quite nice and lustrous, with good yellow-gold color...  more 2529 1894 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $1,300.00 A wealth of red-gold cartwheel lustre joins a bold strike. A minor mark or two in the otherwise smooth fields keep this coin from a higher grade. 2530 1895'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $700.00 - and a well struck, entirely vibrant, yellow-golden specimen. The reverse offers claims to the Choice category. 2531 1897 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $1,300.00 This obverse exhibits light scattered marks, the reverse qualifies as virtually Gem in its bold visual quality. 2532 1897 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $1,400.00 A high quality example of this Gay Nineties date displaying subtly matte yellow-gold surfaces with subdued cartwheel flash. 2533 1897 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $750.00 Light orange-gold mixed with some light yellow gold. Frosty surfaces that give off a pleasing appearance. 2534 1897'S' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $2,000.00 - a virtual Gem of surpassing quality boasting immaculate glowing fields complementing a diamond-sharp strike. 2535 1899'S' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $5,000.00 A superb coin that approaches a Gem designation. Orange-peel radiance creates a most attractive visual effect. Both obverse and reverse are impressively struck. NGC MS64. 2536 1899'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $650.00 - or finer. Attractive satiny surfaces bathed in an orange-gold radiance and essentially free of any distracting marks giving the overall appearance of a significantly higher grade. 2537 1900 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $650.00 - with original lustre and the usual accompaniment of superficial staccato bagmarks so often encountered with this series. 2538 1901 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $1,500.00 Rose gold surfaces are coupled with boldly struck devices.
