Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $2,250.00 Here is a glittering example of William Barber's 35.7mm, 24.91 gram (384.4 grain) Pattern Dollar, struck with the diameter and weight of the French 5 Francs, a basic denomination of the then-flourishing Latin Monetary Union. The obverse presents an elegant diadem Liberty head, the reverse has the Latin motto DEO EST GLORIA, Glory is to God used on the Metric and Goloid Patterns of these busy years....  more 1871 1879'CC over CC' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $4,100.00 Deeply mirrored fields encircle frosty white central devices and lettering for wonderful cameo contrast. Bagmarks are about average for the grade, the seeming severity of which is amplified by the prooflike surfaces. This is the variety best known as the ''Capped CC'', although Repunched 'CC' or Rusted 'CC' are more accurate descriptions of the variety. 1872 1880'CC' Rev. of '79. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $600.00 This frosty white jewel is remarkably free of any distracting marks giving it the look and appeal of a substantially higher grade. Frosty silver lustre is haloed in distinctive clear gold intensifying at the outer rims. 1886 1887'S/S' VAM 2 CH BU $275.00 There is clear repunching inside both the upper and lower loops of the mintmark. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated with some claims to a Gem classification. Cartwheel lustre complements a meticulous strike. A few light facial marks are noted beneath pale golden toning. This highly collectible issue is listed by Fey and Oxman as one of their top 100 Morgan Dollar varieties. 1887 1889'CC' AU $6,500.00 Strong About Uncirculated and nearly Mint State in terms of wear. Glasslike fields are notably prooflike and surround well struck central devices. Surfaces are a luminous and lustrous silver-gray and were probably brightened through dipping in the past. Bagmarks are tiny and of minimal quantity on both sides. Here is a very high grade survivor of this coveted key date Carson City mint issue...  more 1888 1889'CC' EF $2,800.00 Extremely Fine. Here is a strong Extremely Fine coin that is a pleasing steel gray color. There are some hairlines and a few contact marks noted, but the overall appeal is acceptable. This example should be strongly considered as the opportunity to purchase this toughest of Carson City Morgans does not come very often. 1889 1890 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $110.00 - and exhibiting a blush of delicate gold on both the obverse and reverse. Fully struck legends and design elements float in glowing, semi-reflective fields. The quality of this pleasing example is far above the norm for this generally unattractive issue. 1890 1890'O' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $220.00 - and virtually warranting a full Gem designation. Here is a highly compelling coin that offers full velvet-like bloom beneath lovely shades of champagne, gold, and subtle aqua-blue iridescence. A well struck, premium quality specimen. 1891 1890'O' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $160.00 Frosty lustre pervades this blazing white virtual Gem. NGC MS64. 1892 1890'S' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $260.00 - and an evenly struck example. The surfaces reveal only the most minor of imperfections under close scrutiny. Lavender-gray iridescence is somewhat deep, and to a subtle degree mutes underlying satiny lustre. 1893 1891 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $1,000.00 Strike is remarkably full, and lovely cartwheel silver underlies dignified light russet-gold toning that comes together handsomely at the rims. Here is a lofty grade for a date that is scarcely offered at this level. 1894 1891'CC' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $2,000.00 Forceful deep silver glow is amplified by this Carson City coin's depth of strike. The reverse is truly Superb for the boldest beauty and appeal. 1895 1891'CC' VAM-3. ''Spitting Eagle.'' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $950.00 This meticulously struck specimen radiates a brilliant white glow from its silky mint bloom. NGC MS64. 1896 1892'S' AU $5,500.00 A strong About Uncirculated or better example that features full original color. There is a shade of light olive-golden toning that bathes plenty of delicately muted underlying frosty mint lustre. For those who appreciate complete originality, this is their coin as this date is quite challenging to acquire within the grade range offered here. 1897 1893'CC' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $9,500.00 Both obverse and reverse retain sensational multi-color pastel toning. Close examination reveals a semi-prooflike radiance creating a terrific visual effect. 1898 1895'O' VG $250.00 Very Good. Deep golden gray surfaces exhibit normal circulation wear and a few minor surface marks. Scarce. 1899 1895'S' VF $310.00 Very Fine. This coin has seen its share of circulation and bears a reeding mark on Liberty's jaw. Surfaces bear intermingled deep blue-gray and rose toning for unusually vivid visual effect.
