Glasslike, semi-prooflike fields wholly encircle well struck and gently frosted central devices on both sides. Surfaces are mostly silver-white, with a blush of clear champagne gold on both sides. Some minor adjustment marks as well as a small, inherent slag mark are noted around eagle's beak. Here is a significant early dated Liberty Seated Dollar that is in a much higher state of preservation...  more
1852 1842 AU $240.00

About Uncirculated. Well struck devices are framed by fields that have wavy, probably machine-made hairlines that may well have been meant to simulate original mint lustre.
1853 1843 CH AU $750.00

Choice About Uncirculated. Richly frosted, well defined devices stand out proudly against satiny smooth, subtly prooflike fields on both sides. Light rose-gold toning is confined mostly to the outer peripheries of this glittering little jewel. If not for a touch of friction in the fields, this coin would easily be Mint State.
1854 1850 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $7,000.00
1850 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated. Toned with dark lilac and blue over the entire surface and attractive...
Toned with dark lilac and blue over the entire surface and attractive for this coveted rare date. The mintage for the year stumbled to a halt after a mere 7,500 were coined. Of these, many were melted during the economic disruptions caused by the California Gold Rush which drove up the price of silver relative to the falling price of gold. There are moderate handling marks which seem...  more

Very Good and quite lovely for the grade. Steel gray fields give way to somewhat golden gray motifs. A pleasing specimen with excellent surface quality. This circulated coin shows just problem-free wear and is an eye appealing example of this scarce date.
1856 1859 AU $360.00

About Uncirculated. Glossy, lightly prooflike surfaces are bright silver-gray from a long ago cleaning and have started to retoned in subtle russet-gold on both faces. Many of the quarter million examples minted of this date were exported to China, likely never to return.
1857 1859'O' CH VG $280.00

Choice Very Good, approaching Fine. Smooth evenly worn surfaces are mostly battleship gray with paler high points. Hints of magenta and ice blue toning can be found with some scrutiny. A wonderfully attractive coin.
1858 1860 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $7,500.00
1860 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated, and boasting the eye appeal of a Gem. Here is a specimen...
- and boasting the eye appeal of a Gem. Here is a specimen of this relatively available date boasting intense, satiny mint lustre in the fields of both obverse and reverse. The strike is good and bold and surfaces are lightly toned in champagne mauve, making this a good representative of the Liberty Seated type. This particular 1860 is remarkably free of distracting tics and bagmarks,...  more
1859 1863 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $2,500.00
1863 Very Choice Brilliant Proof. Swirling multi-hued toning graces this scarce Civil War date coin....
Swirling multi-hued toning graces this scarce Civil War date coin. Some die polishing marks visible, frequently characteristic of mid-19th century Proofs. A mere 460 Proofs were reported struck of this date.
1860 1867 over Smaller Date. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $1,100.00
1867 over Smaller Date. Brilliant Uncirculated or essentially so, however there are some very faint...
- or essentially so, however there are some very faint hairlines that are detectable in the obverse field. This remarkable overdate shows very clear remnants of a smaller '186' slanting downwards to the right beneath the date. According to Breen, the date was first entered with a Half Dollar logotype and then corrected. The tops of a '186' are visible above the primary numerals. The left base of the smaller...  more
1861 1870 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $3,750.00
1870 Choice Brilliant Proof. Bold Cameo contrast of glittering glass-mirror fields and finely frosted...
Bold Cameo contrast of glittering glass-mirror fields and finely frosted devices underlies the clearest pale gold for fantastic appeal. Close examination under a glass reveals a rust dot on the eagle's beak not noted by Breen in his description of varieties of this Proof issue.
1862 1871 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $900.00
1871 Brilliant Uncirculated. A satiny coin which boasts delicate gold toning adhering to the devices...
A satiny coin which boasts delicate gold toning adhering to the devices and eye appealing lustre. The surfaces are attractive for the grade, with moderate bagmarks from handling. An average strike with softness on Liberty's head and a few of the obverse stars lack their radial centers. NGC MS61.
1863 1871 UNC $300.00

Probably Uncirculated in terms of actual wear. Blue-gold toned surfaces have taken on a pebbly texture after a past whizzing or other harsh cleaning.
