Flat top to 3. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $4,750.00 - and offering excellent visual appeal. A razor-sharp strike is embellished by shades of rich gold and lilac-rose iridescence that are concentrated mainly at the peripheries. The fields, much to the pleasure of the viewer and unlike the vast majority of the survivors of this issue, exhibit a noticeable degree of reflectivity on either side. This noteworthy one-year type coin is certain...  more 4207 1837 No Stars. Large Date. Flat top to 3. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $1,300.00 - and just bordering on a fully Choice designation. Boldly struck on both the obverse and reverse. A swathe of deep jade toning is accented by traces of pale blue and subtle champagne iridescence. This highly satisfying specimen is considerably finer than the typically Mint State survivor of this important issue. 4208 1837 No Stars. Large Date. Flat top to 3 CH AU $650.00 Choice About Uncirculated and only a whisper away from a Mint State classification. This fully frosty example displays enticing shades of lavender-mauve, gold, and deep blue iridescence at the left obverse. The peripheral reverse is also toned in a similar fashion. 4209 1837 No Stars. Small Date. Round top to 3. Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $19,000.00 - and a simply sensational coin in every respect! Assertive definition is embellished by an unbroken blanket of luxuriant velvet-satin mint bloom. Gentle wisps of golden iridescence highlight surface quality that is nearly unimprovable. Scarcer than the Large Date variety of this No Stars type, and even by the strictest standards very rare in the condition offered here. In fact, this glorious...  more 4210 1837 No Stars. Small Date. Round top to 3. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $1,500.00 - despite a small obverse contact mark just above the rock in the extreme left field. Glowing, fully frosty mint lustre is as rich as could possibly be expected, and is accompanied by lovely overlying shades of russet, mauve, and golden iridescence. There is a pronounced reverse die crack running from the rim at 9:30 to the 'E' in DIME that indicates the impending failure of this die. 4211 1837 No Stars. Small Date. Round top to 3 CH EF $600.00 The obverse is Choice Extremely Fine or better. The reverse is fully About Uncirculated and retains its fair share of mint frost in the protected areas of the design. Smooth, well balanced, and featuring pale gray and iridescent toning in the devices. 4212 1838'O' No Stars. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $3,000.00 - or somewhat better. The reverse is that of a solid Choice specimen. The obverse, as is the norm, reveals a bit of flatness at the thigh and breast of Liberty. Smooth, unencumbered fields retain a greater degree of satiny mint lustre than typically encountered on high grade survivors of this date. Easily the most elusive of the No Stars issues and legitimately rare in this state of preservation....  more 4213 1838 Small Stars AU $180.00 A solid, well struck About Uncirculated or better with respect to wear. There is, however, rather noticeable evidence of a past cleaning beneath pale olive-gray toning on both the obverse and reverse. 4214 1838 Large Stars VERY CH BU $1,600.00 A heavy vertical die crack bisects the reverse. There is a smaller crack that starts at the 'T' in UNITED and meets this heavier crack at the 'I' in DIME. Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated and an outstanding specimen. Meticulously struck legends and design elements are immersed in a pleasant veil of olive-golden toning. This so-called partial drapery variety is actually the result of die clashing. Close examination with a glass reveals that the apparent faint drapery line is actually the upright of a clashed 'E' in DIME. The obverse offers vibrant blue and rose toning in the design elements. Here is a frosty, nicely balanced example that is highlighted by russet-golden toning concentrated mainly at the peripheries. 4217 1839 CH AU $125.00 Choice About Uncirculated. Well struck. The obverse is a bit pale and reveals some faint field lines. The reverse displays subtle splashes of pale russet. 4218 1839'O' Tall, narrow 'O' mintmark VERY CH BU $11,500.00 A razor-sharp, Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated example. The reverse is that of a full Gem. Velvet-smooth fields are entirely unimpeded by even the slightest of imperfections. A blush of delicate gold is accented by wisps of emerald and olive iridescence. This outstanding, entirely honest example would certainly be quite challenging to improve upon in even the slightest respect. 4219 1839'O' Small, round 'O' mintmark. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $3,500.00 - with claims to the Gem category. A full icy glow immerses well struck, premium quality fields and design features. Pale golden toning completes the distinctive presentation of this impressive coin. This Small 'O' variety is somewhat scarcer than its Tall 'O' counterpart. 4220 1840 No Drapery. Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $1,700.00 Varying shades of golden toning accent underlying chisel-sharp legends and design elements. The fields, likewise, are satiny and wonderfully compelling. 4221 1840 No Drapery. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $1,800.00 - with claims to the Gem category. Well struck with excellent definition at Liberty's head and in the obverse stars. Colorful and quite appealing, this example exudes icy mint frost beneath a lovely blend of iridescent emerald, gold, and subtle lilac. 4222 1840'O' No Drapery. Small, round 'O' mintmark VERY CH BU $23,000.00 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated and exhibiting sharp, velvet-like fields and devices beneath handsome olive-jade and delicate golden iridescence. Extremely rare in this state of preservation. In fact, with there being no known Gem quality specimens and no more than a few pieces that could arguably be called Choice or better, the presently offered coin is quite possibly the finest known...  more 4223 1840 With Drapery AU $2,400.00 A very strong About Uncirculated or better example that exhibits hints of field reflectivity. Some random hairlines are evident on either side, and are partially concealed by rich emerald, gold, and sky-blue peripheral iridescence. Quite scarce nonetheless. 4224 1841 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $3,000.00 - and just on the cusp of a full Gem distinction. In fact, were it not for some trivial obverse high point slide marks visible only with a glass, we would unhesitatingly call this beauty a solid Gem. Glorious pastel shades of champagne-rose at the centers, and lilac-blue at the peripheries adorn this captivating jewel! 4225 1841 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $425.00 - and displaying some characteristics indicative of a Choice classification. Sharply struck on either side. The slightest wisp of peripheral gold accents glowing silver mint frost. 4226 1841'O' Open Bud Reverse. Small 'O' mintmark. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $1,100.00 Pale olive and golden toning is featured on either side of this well balanced, evenly struck specimen. Mint State examples of this date, regardless of the variety, are indeed quite rare. 4227 1842 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $280.00 - and approaching a Choice distinction. Full icy mint frost is framed by the slightest traces of russet-gold at the extreme obverse periphery. The reverse is entirely vibrant. 4228 1842'O' Medium 'O' mintmark. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $3,250.00 - and nearly a Choice specimen. Varying shades of russet accent the obverse periphery. The reverse is awash in a balanced blush of light golden toning. Although the mintage for this date is quite high and low grade examples are plentiful, full Mint State specimens are very difficult to obtain and are indeed surprisingly rare. 4229 1843 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $1,900.00 - and ever so close to a full Gem designation. The coloration is truly exceptional and features a compelling blend of deep jade, lilac, subtle gold, and lavender-gray. The underlying fields and design elements are sharp and wonderfully satiny. Worthy of a premium as the eye appeal is far above the norm for a coin within this grade range. 4230 1843'O' F $280.00 A solid Fine. Evenly worn but for a single hairline in the lower right obverse field. Scarce in this condition. 4231 1844 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $5,000.00 - and nearly of Choice quality. Deep jade and golden toning frames the obverse periphery of this assertive, fully frosty example. The reverse enjoys a hint of peripheral gold. This low mintage date (only 72,500 were struck), though hoarded to some degree long ago, is very scarce in the lesser circulated grades. Full Mint State examples such as the coin offered here are very rare. Surviving...  more 4232 1845 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $900.00 - nearly warranting a Gem designation. Satin-silk lustre is entirely evident beneath rich jade-gray centers and golden peripheries. The surfaces on either side are highlighted by subtle iridescent overtones. A premium coin in every respect and simply exuding complete originality. 4233 1845'O' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $15,000.00 Well struck and enjoying plenty of definition in the stars, wreath, legends, and interior devices. This frosty, delicate lilac-gray specimen displays hints of reflectivity in the fields on either side. With there being less than a handful of confirmed Mint State survivors of this date, the coin offered here is clearly among the finest known! 4234 1846 AU $3,500.00 A strict About Uncirculated with respect to wear. Even russet and pale gray surfaces, however, shows signs of having been cleaned very long ago. Despite this shortcoming, this coin remains quite rare and is the object of intense collector demand. Only 31,300 pieces were struck of which only a miniscule fraction have managed to survive. 4235 1847 AU $650.00 An entirely original About Uncirculated example. Deep golden-gray fields and design features are augmented by a halo of multicolored iridescence at the obverse periphery. Very scarce in this condition.
