Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 3861 1865 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $5,500.00 This bright silver example is a majestic beauty. The fields are chrome-like and the devices are frosty for a stunning cameo look. Magnification reveals that the date has been repunched, as is often the case for this date. This date is quite popular as the first year of issue and is quite rare with a mintage of just 500 pieces. An amazing example. 3862 1865 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $2,600.00 Light iridescent toning over mainly silver and gray surfaces. There is some light spotting visible but it does not detract significantly. The reflectivity is quite good, giving this coin a wonderful look. 3863 1866 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $900.00 A very deeply reflective coin with nice frosted devices. The surfaces are quite nice except for a couple of light scrapes at the reverse on the numerals. 3864 1867 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $550.00 Satiny silver and gray color with a few scattered spots seen. The strike is a bit weak in the numerals, but overall it is decent. The coin exhibits powerful reflectivity. 3865 1868 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $1,300.00 Lovely light iridescent toning over mainly gray surfaces. The coin shows nice watery fields which further enhance this coin's eye appeal. Well struck with some mint-made die roller striations on the cheek. 3866 1869 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $700.00 Nice frosty devices contrast well with deep watery fields. A few light hairlines do not detract from the overall appeal of this lovely coin. 3867 1870 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $550.00 An attractive coin with brilliant surfaces and few, if any, detractions. The strike is excellent, allowing the viewer to see how well conceived this design really was. 3868 1871 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $650.00 Bright lustre over clean surfaces. The strike is strong but there is a very light lamination in front of the nose. Still a decent coin for your consideration. 3869 1872 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $900.00 Impeccable reflective surfaces combined with a razor-sharp strike produces marvelous eye appeal. The fields are fresh and original and impart lovely natural hue. An unusual extraneous club-like lump on Miss Liberty's cheek is noted for curiosity. 3873 1876 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $550.00 - with claims to a higher grade. Nice reflectivity with a very sharp strike gives this coin resounding eye appeal. 3874 1877 Superb Gem Brilliant Proof SUP GEM BR PF $3,250.00 Superlative surfaces boast a deep cameo effect on both sides. Well struck with even the most minute detail plainly visible. A very attractive and appealing example of this rare Proof-only issue, of which only about 510 pieces were struck. 3875 1877 Superb Gem Brilliant Proof SUP GEM BR PF $4,250.00 Lovely light iridescent toning over satiny gray surfaces. The reflectivity is strong and the fields are quite handsome. A closer inspection will reward the astute buyer. 3876 1877 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $3,000.00 A sharply struck issue that has lovely light iridescent toning which gives this coin a great look. Certainly worth a closer inspection as your effort will be rewarded. 3877 1878 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $750.00 Outstanding watery surfaces combined with frosted devices give this coin a lovely cameo effect. The strike is sensational and the color is a bright silver and gray. A marvelous example of this Proof-only issue of which only 2,350 were struck. 3878 1879 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $650.00 A lovely coin that has a great cameo effect along with a strong strike and wonderful surfaces. Struck from the same reverse dies as the previous coin. 3879 1879 AU $170.00 About Uncirculated. Lustrous, with golden toning and carbon spots; 1881 Very Fine. Dusky gray surfaces; 1888 Very Fine. Light gray with some large obverse carbon spots. Scarce. 3 pieces. 3880 1880 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $600.00  A borderline superb Gem coin with magnificent frosty devices that contrast nicely with the watery fields. A tiny obverse rim tic is this coin's main detraction, otherwise this coin is a top drawer example. 3881 1881 Superb Gem Brilliant Proof SUP GEM BR PF $600.00 Bright and vibrant surfaces are immaculate to the eyes. The strike is razor-sharp and gives this coin tremendous eye appeal. The date has some repunching on the last 1 and both 8's. A wonderful example of this late date that should be seen to be appreciated. 3882 1881 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $190.00 A wonderful example that is satiny smooth with silver and gray surfaces. Well preserved with little or no major detractions. The date is repunched to the left with each digit showing some recutting. An attractive coin suitable for type. 3883 1882 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $450.00 A lovely shimmering jewel that is well struck and quite attractive with well preserved surfaces and great eye appeal. An underrated date with pressure put on the Proofs because of the rarity of the business strikes. 3884 1883 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $550.00 Bright shiny fields with attractive frosty devices combine for a beautiful cameo effect. The fields are nearly pristine and the strike is full. Another date that comes under collector pressure since high quality business strikes are nearly impossible to find. A wonderful coin with great appeal. 3885 1884 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $425.00 Fully reflective with nice watery surfaces. Light gray toning. Some light flyspecks scattered on both sides do not disturb the overall beauty of this little delight. Another date that is rare to find as a business strike. 3886 1885 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $450.00 Glass-like fields contrast with frosted devices for a top rate cameo effect. A bit of light rose-gold toning further adds to the wonderful eye appeal of this coin. Boldly struck. With only 1,000 business strikes produced, one can most likely only find a Proof of this date. 3887 1886 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $825.00 Stupendous cameo effect because of the lovely watery fields and the frosted devices. One would have to look very hard to fine a coin as nice as this example of this Proof-only issue of only 4,290 pieces. 3888 1887 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $850.00 Pleasing brilliant surfaces provide a home for some light iridescent toning. A very appealing example of this late date issue that is hard to find as a business strike, placing Proofs under intense collector pressure. 3889 1887/6 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $575.00 Light russet toning over icy smooth surfaces. Well struck with the 7/6 overdate plainly visible. The surfaces are devoid of any major detriments. To find a better example would be a daunting task. 3890 1888 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $500.00 Well struck, including a partial wire rim. Light golden toning over well preserved surfaces.
