Sharply struck throughout and very impressive for this date which is seldom found so attractive. Light silver gray over lustre, and traces of gold are found in the fields. On the reverse, there is a minor toning streak running vertically through the left center. - nearly Choice. Tawny gold and gray over lustre and very pleasing for the scarce issue. The surfaces are excellent for the grade, and close examination will find just a couple of minor hairlines and a trivial nick near Liberty's chin. An average strike for this issue, with slight softness on Liberty's curls and the right stars. A very difficult coin in any Mint State grade. PCGS MS62. |

A very pretty coin with nice underlying mint lustre. The obverse has a die crack that divides it in half, a remarkable die failure sometimes found on this variety. |
