Fine. One of 1,200 struck, and a date that is eagerly sought in any condition. This example displays substantial major detail, russet-gold peripheral reeding. Pioneer Half Dollar variety researcher Martin Luther Beistle called the Reeded Edge date ''a Proof coin,'' but circulated examples including the present coin testify to long use in daily commerce.
1624 1837 AU $285.00

About Uncirculated. An attractive example of the reeded edge variety, with a razor-sharp strike and lovely, smooth fields, only mildly blemished by a small dig near the eagle's neck. Lovely, ''old album'' toning of pale russet and azure blue shows in the far fields and at the periphery.
