About Uncirculated. Greenish-gold toning with nice underlying lustre. Weakly struck in the hair curls and the coronet, the rest decently struck. An obverse rim tic and a few marks behind the head are this coin's main detractions. Quite rare with only 6,729 pieces struck, survivors of which are of lesser quality than the present example. Overall a pretty wholesome example for the southern...  more
2092 1844 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $4,500.00
1844 Brilliant Uncirculated. One of only 6,784 struck, and among the lowest Philadelphia mintages....
One of only 6,784 struck, and among the lowest Philadelphia mintages. Pleasing lustre glows brightly, a few bag tics are evident. Dannreuther and Garrett record only 14 auction appearances of this Philadelphia date over 10 years. Only one of these was in a higher grade, all others well below that of the present lustrous example.
2093 1845 AU $160.00

About Uncirculated, from the standpoint of wear. However, both surfaces have been gently cleaned. Examination reveals some light scratches. ANACS NET EF40. SCRATCHED-CLEANED.

Choice About Uncirculated, nearly Mint State. Full mint frost highlights this coin's remarkably satisfying strike. One of 23,226 struck and a high grade specimen of a date to which Akers assigned an average grade of only VF-33. Finer than the About Uncirculated coin in the definitive James A. Stack collection of Branch Mint Gold and a desirable example from any viewpoint.
2095 1847'O' CH AU $2,600.00
1847'O' Choice About Uncirculated. Weakly struck on the reverse, the obverse bold. A greenish-gold...
Choice About Uncirculated. Weakly struck on the reverse, the obverse bold. A greenish-gold patina adds to the allure of this southern minted date. Some scattered marks, none too serious.
2096 1847'O' AU $1,800.00
1847'O' Another. Strong About Uncirculated, essentially in the Choice category. Exceptionally assertive...
Another. Strong About Uncirculated, essentially in the Choice category. Exceptionally assertive bright gold lustre highlights this coin's bold devices, combining to provide really outstanding beauty. The 'O' mintmark just touches the tip of the arrow feather on this coin's distinctive reverse.
2097 1847'O' AU $1,200.00

A third. About Uncirculated. A most pleasing example of this usually weakly struck date. Traces of subdued mint lustre are apparent among the devices. Scarce this nice. PCGS AU53.

Choice About Uncirculated, on the cusp of full Mint State. Richly lustrous and sharply struck, one of 13,771 struck. This is an unusually high grade example of a Branch Mint date to which Akers assigns an average grade of only EF-42. This coin is undoubtedly one of the finest available for inclusion in any high quality type or date collection.
2099 1849'D' AU $3,500.00
1849'D' About Uncirculated. Pale yellow gold surfaces are reflective and pleasing. Some evidence of...
About Uncirculated. Pale yellow gold surfaces are reflective and pleasing. Some evidence of a past light cleaning is noted, but is inconsequential. Here is a very satisfying example of this very scarce Dahlonega issue of which only 10,945 pieces were coined.
2100 1851'O' Double Date. Breen 6214 AU $350.00

About Uncirculated. A pleasing yellow-gold example with some protected lustre. Magnification reveals that the date was originally punched into the die at an angle down and to the right before being corrected to its present location. An attractive coin and an interesting variety.
2101 1852 AU $115.00

About Uncirculated. Satisfying coppery gold surfaces are visible on this lightly worn example. There are one or two small reverse scratches. ANACS NET EF40. REV. SCRATCHED.

About Uncirculated. Lustre in the protected areas, scattered contact marks in the fields give this coin its bright appearance. This reverse shows the 'O' placed high, overlapping both the stem and arrow feather.
2103 1853 AU $150.00

About Uncirculated. Lustre is especially notable near the rims and forming a halo around the sharply detailed devices.
2104 1853'D' AU $5,500.00
1853'D' About Uncirculated. This delightful coin boasts remarkably full lustre and provides added...
About Uncirculated. This delightful coin boasts remarkably full lustre and provides added fascination with its slightly off-center strike. Only 3,178 were struck, and a date rare in any obtainable condition. This coin shows a typically imprecise Dahlonega strike but is finer than most examples of the date appearing in the Dannreuther-Garrett auction record.
2105 1854 CH AU $155.00

Choice About Uncirculated. A well struck coin boasting rich lustre on both sides. A minor tic or two can be found with a glass, but without a doubt this coin will be an outstanding addition for any quality collection.
2106 1856'O' CH AU $2,200.00
1856'O' Choice About Uncirculated. Virtually full, pleasingly bright yellow-gold lustre provides much...
Choice About Uncirculated. Virtually full, pleasingly bright yellow-gold lustre provides much appeal. Wear is minimal on this specimen of a highly elusive New Orleans date. Most examples recorded by Dannreuther-Garrett are well below this coin's relatively high grade, reinforcing understanding of condition rarity within the date. One of 21,100 struck. The left top of the 'O' merges with...  more
2107 1858 AU $400.00

Strong About Uncirculated, nearly Choice. A scarcer Philadelphia date and a coin of outstanding lustrous red-gold beauty with a few marks appearing in the fields.

Solid About Uncirculated with claims to a higher grade. One of 9,056 struck and comfortably above Akers' average grade of VF-36. Pale yellow gold shows faint wear, some marks characteristic of a brief circulating life.

1859'D' Choice About Uncirculated. Attractive yellow-gold toning. The surfaces are well struck and...
Choice About Uncirculated. Attractive yellow-gold toning. The surfaces are well struck and quite nice for the grade. Some light hairlines and marks but the coin overall has a wonderful appearance and should elicit strong collector bidding.
2110 1861 New Reverse. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $190.00

Choice About Uncirculated, virtually Mint State. Gleaming red-gold lustre saturates both sides of this pleasing example of a very low-mintage Philadelphia date. One of only 4,320 business strikes. Dannreuther-Garrett list 25 auction appearances, about half of which were in grades lower than this pleasing example.
2116 1873 Closed 3. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $650.00

- and very close to Choice. This coin's gleaming red-gold lustre combines with a full strike to provide the beauty of a higher grade. This is the scarcer of the two date varieties of this year, roughly twice as scarce as the Open 3 type.
2117 1879 AU $180.00

About Uncirculated with the bold appeal of higher grade. This coin is enriched by gleaming red-gold lustre of the most pleasing intensity.

- nearly fully Choice with gorgeous glittering gold lustre enhancing a meticulous strike. One of 2,960 business strikes produced for this important year, only nine of which appear in the 10-year Dannreuther-Garrett listing. Here is a date even rarer than common guide books lead collectors to believe.
2119 1889 AU $150.00

About Uncirculated in terms of actual wear. Surfaces are drenched in satisfying lustre but there are a number marks on or near the rims on either side.
2120 1892 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $9,000.00
1892 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated. Immaculate, smooth and gleaming fields underlie devices of medallic...
Immaculate, smooth and gleaming fields underlie devices of medallic perfection. This date boasts the lowest mintage of the Gay Nineties with only 2,440 business strikes. The present flawless Gem would place close to the top rank among the 21 pieces of this date appearing at auction over the 10 years covered by the Dannreuther-Garrett reference.
