Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 1178 1796 John Reich 2 (R-4) AU $8,000.00 About Uncirculated with the lustre of a higher grade. Miss Liberty's hair is well struck as is most of this example. There are some mint-made adjustment marks at the center of the reverse affecting the eagle's breast. Pale iridescent toning mixed with some silver and gray. A nice example of this historic first year of issue of U. S. Dimes. 1179 1796 JR-3. (R-5) CH EF $6,500.00 Choice Extremely Fine. Lilac-gray surfaces with lighter central areas are ringed by a halo of neon blue at the rims. Only light circulation is evidenced by wear at the highest points. The strike is much better than is usually found and the rims are complete. A small and undistracting planchet flaw is located at the lower reverse rim extending into the 'U'. A charming example of the second...  more 1180 1796 JR-4 (R-4). Brilliant Uncirculated BU $15,000.00 Well struck obverse, the reverse a little weak on the eagle's breast. The lustre is excellent with pale golden overtones. The surfaces show a bit of reflectivity and do not suffer from the mint-made adjustment marks that are normally seen. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $5,750.00 This steel gray specimen shows hints of gold at the left stars and blue-green hues at LIBERTY. The reverse shows wisps of lovely electric blue at the bottom. The strike is generally bold but is slightly soft at the centers, which is typical. Magnification reveals some very faint adjustment marks at the obverse, mostly hidden in Liberty's hair. Well centered with delicate rose-pink and hints of iridescent blue toning coalescing along the sharply defined rims. Here is an exceptionally handsome example of this important date. PCGS AU55. 1183 1805 JR-2. Four Berries Reverse EF $5,750.00 Another. Extremely Fine, perhaps a bit better. Deep ebony toning over well struck surfaces. Irregular reeding that is seen sometimes on these early issues. There are no adjustment marks or other detractions to affect the value of this coin. Capped Bust Dimes Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 1184 1820 JR.13 CH AU $2,200.00 Choice About Uncirculated and virtually of Mint State quality. Golden toning over decently preserved surfaces. The strike is good. 1185 1829 JR.12 (R-3). Medium 10 C. Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $2,000.00 - essentially Gem and of the highest rarity thus. Deeply glowing silver is highlighted by exquisite clear gold toning of remarkable delicacy. Close examination of this reverse shows a detached upper arrow stem, blundered vertical lines in the first three shield stripes. 1186 1835 JR.1 AU $250.00 About Uncirculated. Dimes → U. S. Liberty Seated Dimes Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 1187 1838'O/O' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $3,250.00 Deep blue toning over pleasingly preserved surfaces. The strike is sharp and there is a die cud at 2:00 on the obverse. This repunched mintmark variety can be easily seen at the bottom of the 'O'. 1188 1841'O' CH AU $300.00 Choice About Uncirculated. The variety with open buds in the reverse wreath and a medium-sized mintmark. Well struck. A blush of golden-gray toning accents underlying frosty lustre. According to Greer, this variety with a medium-sized mintmark is slightly scarcer than the same variety with a small mintmark. 1189 1854 Arrows. Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $2,500.00 Lovely golden toning over immaculate surfaces. The strike is bold which should further endear this coin to any prospective buyer. Nice lustre with no major marks. 1190 1860 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $1,000.00 A lovely array of pastel blues and greens highlight this Civil War era coin. Boldly struck devices are quite distinctive, enhancing the terrific eye appeal. 1191 1861 CH AU $90.00 Choice About Uncirculated. A well struck example that has been cleaned and now has retoned a deep iridescent blue and rose-gold; 1886 Choice About Uncirculated. Mottled iridescent blue and rose-gold toning over well preserved surfaces. 2 pieces. 1192 1874'S' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $2,750.00 Stark silver-white surfaces are accentuated by the boldest cartwheel reflectivity which gives exceptional visual impact to this lovely example of a notoriously elusive San Francisco date. NGC MS64. 1193 1875 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $700.00 The obverse has rose-gold and iridescent blue toning about the rim while the reverse has an outstanding blend of iridescent blue and gold over lovely mirrored surfaces. A few stray hairlines are present. 1194 1877'CC' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $160.00 Deep gray toning over sharply struck surfaces. A tiny rim nick is this coin's major detriment. 1195 1879 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $1,500.00 The obverse is deeply mirrored with light golden toning while the reverse has a half moon shaped area of iridescent blue and gold. A lack of major marks makes this coin an excellent opportunity for the type or date collector. 1196 1888 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $300.00 Frosty lustre leaps from the pristine surfaces of this exceptional specimen. A virtual kaleidoscope of pale silver, deep rose and cobalt blue gives this lovely near-Gem example an eye arresting look. NGC MS64. 1197 1890 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $130.00 A pleasing blend of rose-gold and iridescent blue with some sea-green overtones. Struck from clashed dies, which is quite evident on the reverse. 1198 1891 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $350.00 An outstanding array of rose-gold and blue toning combined with an excellent strike gives this coin lovely eye appeal. Mottled gold toning over well struck surfaces; 1914'D' Choice About Uncirculated but exhibiting a few slide marks on the face and on the top of the scroll. 3 pieces. 1200 1901 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $90.00 Deep gold and charcoal gray toning over sharply struck surfaces. A very acceptable type coin. 1201 1910 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $200.00 Light russet toning over lovely satiny surfaces. A nicely impressed example that is sure to please. 1202 1911 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $650.00 Light russet and gold over satiny surfaces. Well struck and quite impressive for the grade. 1203 1912 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $600.00 A pristine coin boasting the most luxurious deep electric blue, iridescent silver and deeply glowing rose lavished on its deeply mirrored fields. 1204 1913 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $100.00 Mostly gold and russet toning. Mercury Dimes Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 1205 1916'D' G $500.00 Good. Here is a circulated but highly acceptable example of the major key to the Mercury series. Both date and mintmark are full, wear is appropriate to the grade and close study finds traces of a past cleaning. 1206 1916'D' AG $425.00 About Good. Another strongly identified example of this Denver rarity displaying deep gray and gold in the smooth fields. 1207 1921 AB VG $200.00 Very Fine, 1921'D' About Very Good. Here is an attractive steel-gray pair representing two of the better issues of the series.
