Blazing, full red lustre captivates the viewer of this high quality Indian Head Cent. Devices stand out against scintillating mint frost in the fields, while only a few minor carbon flecks and marks hold this from a coveted Gem designation. 886 1866 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $1,100.00 - with the masterful look of a Gem. Golden red lustre at the centers deepens to rich orange and sunset red toward the peripheries of this boldly appealing specimen. 887 1867 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $220.00  Richly toned in rose, magenta, gold and orange, this specimen boasts forceful mint lustre and a strong strike everywhere but at the left obverse and reverse. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $150.00  Rich chestnut brown surfaces host glowing mint red in the areas surrounding the devices and legends. A few marks are fortunately well hidden on the edge when viewed from the 6:00 position on the obverse. Die doubling is visible at LIBERTY and designer's initial 'L', and although not as strong as the doubled die of 1873, this relative newcomer to the Indian Cent series is highly...  more 889 1869 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $500.00 Faintly glowing red inhabits the fields and protected areas of this 1860's Indian Cent scarcity. Here is a well struck specimen ideal for a Mint State date set of this series. 890 1870 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $1,900.00 - nearly Gem. Blazing mint red surface color immediately captures the attention of the viewer, joining a bold strike in creating this coin's intense eye appeal. A glass reveals a few minor carbon flecks, which are all that holds this lovely coin from a Gem grade. 891 1871 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $1,300.00 Wonderful red and brown lustre takes on the ''wood grain effect'' that is characteristic to the metal mixture of bronze coins emanating from the U.S. Mint around the date of this coin. Well struck and attractive. 892 1872 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $10,000.00 - nearly Gem. This coin's blazing red lustre makes it a rarity among its peers, as most high grade specimens exhibit the ''wood grain'' toning as seen on the 1871 above. Scintillating lustre cartwheels encircle devices that exhibit a bit above average strike for the issue. Collectors of full red Indian Cents should take note when this lot comes under the auctioneer's hammer. 893 1873 Closed 3. Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $475.00 Crisply struck devices stand out proudly against mark-free, full red fields on the obverse. The reverse, on the other hand, has mellowed to a glowing rose-red, the effect of long time storage in its Wayte Raymond board. Here is an eye arresting coin that would be a Gem if not for some trivial obverse carbon flecks. 894 1874 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $450.00 - on the cusp of Gem. Beautifully toned in shades of gold and rose, this coin boasts the fiery lustre of a Superb Gem on the obverse. The reverse is toned in glowing rose-orange tones, with some minor carbon flecking from its Wayte Raymond cardboard enclosure. 895 1875 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $240.00 Satin-smooth, mellow red lustre is just starting to brown, especially at the upper left quadrant of the obverse. 896 1876 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $250.00 Glowing rose and orange hues beautify this coin's lustrous fields and powerfully impressed devices. 897 1877 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $5,000.00 Here is a glorious, lustrous specimen of this always hotly pursued key date Indian Head Cent, featuring a mintage of just 852,500 pieces, the second lowest of the series. Red and brown lustre is comprised of orange and magenta hues, with some areas of thicker maroon toning hidden in the crevices of the wreath on the reverse. 898 1878 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $1,700.00 - if not for a single carbon spot on each side. Powerfully struck devices are framed by satiny smooth lustre of quite some intensity. Glowing pale golden-rose toning creates this coin's fierce eye appeal. 899 1879 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $500.00 Sunset orange mint frost on the obverse is joined by glowing rose-orange lustre on the reverse. 900 1880 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $200.00  Coruscating orange mint lustre is quite intense, creating this first 1880's date's bold appeal. Some minor carbon flecking holds this from a full Gem grade. 901 1881 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $80.00 Glowing sunset orange lustre at the peripheries frames golden red toning at the centers. Well struck, with just some minor carbon flecks at the left obverse holding this coin from a Gem grade. 902 1882 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $60.00 Exquisite salmon and rose tones beautify this coin's flashy, reflective fields. Some minor carbon flecks, mostly on the obverse, are all that hold this coin from a much higher grade. 903 1883 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $55.00 Rich amber-red tones beautify this coin's boldly struck devices and mark-free, reflective fields that give this coin the initial look of a Proof striking.
