|
MS-63 |
$8,250.00 |

1798 S.175 (R-3). Rim Break over 'U.' Style 2 Hair
|
VF-20 |
$200.00 |
Very Fine-20 or better. '1' in the date shows the diagnostic projection at the top, the result of an engraver's slip. This reverse shows a heavy rim break engulfing both tops of 'U' in UNITED and a diagonal die break at 'A' in STATES. Light reddish-brown surfaces show light, non-distracting porosity. |

1799 S.189. Perfect, Close Date
|
VG-10 |
$8,500.00 |
Very Good-10, close to Fine. Glossy brown surfaces show hints of porosity with a scattering of minute marks but are generally free of special problems. LIBERTY shows normal centering and the reverse is slightly rotated. This is the classic date that brought Joseph Mickley and other 19th century numismatic pioneers into coin collecting. |

1801 S.224. Blunt 1's in Date, Fraction 1 00
|
VF-20 |
$240.00 |
Very Fine-20. Medium brown shows a subtle reddish undercurrent with a scattering of very tiny old contact marks. The reverse is perceptibly rotated, and represents an early die state free of rim breaks. Close study reveals a very inconspicuous obverse rim bruise at 11:00. |
|

1802 S.225 (R-4). 1 Touches Hair, Incused Denticles right of Date
|
VF-35 |
$250.00 |
Very Fine-35 and nearly in a higher grade classification. Medium brown surfaces show a bold strike. There is slight surface roughness as made at LIBERTY. The diagnostic lines of impressed denticles near the date are quite clear while the reverse shows some small areas of diffused roughness. |
|
833 |
1803 S.260. Close Date, Large Fraction
|
VF-25 |
$150.00 |
Very Fine-25 or better in detail. This deeply struck example shows the '1' near the curl, '3' close to the drapery, the reverse presents an unmistakable large fraction. Deep brown surfaces show minor stains especially among the leaves in the reverse wreath. |
|

1804 S.266, Die State C.
|
VG-8 / G |
$2,400.00 |
Very Good-8/Good 4. Wear is without special problems, surfaces are a smooth brown with faint blue sheen, faded red at the borders. Bold date, LIBERTY, UNITE and AMERICA. Well developed rim breaks appear over 'RTY' and 'MERIC' in this later die state. Here is a very satisfying example of one of the most sought-after Large Cent dates. |
|

1805 S.267. Blunt 1, Highest Leaf at Left Side of 'S'
|

About Uncirculated-50 in terms of wear and overall sharpness. This appealing coin is strongly detailed throughout, the bust of Liberty especially complete in its locks and drapery. A glass reveals a number of tiny contact pecks on the lower obverse. The reverse is measurably rotated and surfaces are an appealing glossy light brown. |
