Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 558 1892 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $4,500.00 Here is a perfect specimen of this inaugural year of Barber Dime issue featuring flawless, chrome-like fields and fully frosted devices for an outstanding cameo effect. Light champagne at the centers deepens to amber, rose and then blue toward the rims. 1,245 Proofs were struck in 1892. 559 1893 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $6,000.00 Exquisite, deep cameo contrast between fully frosted devices and deeply mirrored fields creates this coin's eye arresting appearance. Glowing amber and blue tones provide a frame for mostly stark white centers. This is undoubtedly one of the most eye appealing survivors of 792 Proofs struck of this second year of issue. 560 1894 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $1,500.00 - with the eye appeal of a Gem. Perfect quantities of gold, rose and blue toning beautify the obverse, while the reverse displays a layer of clear gold. A few trivial marks in the right obverse field do not at all detract from this coin's bold overall appeal. 972 Proofs were struck of this date. 561 1895 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $1,000.00 - or a bit better. Here is a charming specimen gently toned in rings of lime, cobalt blue and russet-gold at the peripheries of the obverse. In contrast, the reverse displays a mere dash of color at the rims. Just 880 Proofs were struck of this date. 562 1896 Brilliant Proof BR PF $500.00 - virtually Choice. Glittering reflectivity in the fields surrounds boldly struck central design motifs on this ever so slightly toned specimen. A mere 762 Proofs were coined in 1896. 563 1897 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $8,500.00 - and boasting absolutely superb eye appeal. Exquisite deep cameo surfaces are absolutely free of any marks that sometimes harm the fragile surfaces of Proof strikings. Milky white devices stand out against intensely mirrored fields that exhibit clear amber and cobalt blue toning at the rims. Finding a finer example of just 731 Proofs struck of this date would require an extremely patient...  more 564 1898 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $5,000.00 Here is a beautiful cameo Proof featuring tobacco gold and hints of electric blue at the obverse peripheries, while the reverse is essentially stark white and flawless. A fingerlike swatch of russet toning at Miss Liberty's neck serves to hallmark this high quality example of just 735 struck of this date. 565 1899 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $4,000.00 Icy rose and ivory tones frame a frosty Liberty Head that is haloed by iridescent amber and rose toning in the immediately adjacent fields. The reverse, in stark contrast to the obverse, is mostly milky white and better showcases this coin's remarkable cameo nature. A more eye appealing specimen of this date would be very difficult to acquire, given a mintage of just 846 pieces. 566 1900 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $1,500.00 Watery, mirror-like fields illuminate concentric rings of emerald, cobalt, rose and gold toning on the obverse, joining a mostly untoned reverse that showcases this coin's cameo qualities. Just 912 Proof Dimes were struck in 1900. 567 1901 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $1,100.00 - with the eye appeal of a higher grade. Glittering, chrome-like fields are awash in toning that starts as peach-gold at Miss Liberty's head and transitions to magenta, blue and lime toward the obverse peripheries. The reverse displays light toning at the rims. A mere 813 Proofs were struck of this date. 568 1902 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $6,500.00 The finish on this piece is wholly brilliant, with virtually no cameo effect remaining. Flawless surface quality is augmented by beautifully luminescent yellow, gold, rose and blue toning, surely making this one of the prettier specimens available of this date. 777 Proofs were struck of this issue. 569 1903 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $5,000.00 A pocket of mostly untoned surface at Miss Liberty's cap is surrounded by radiating rings of orange, magenta, blue and lime-gold toning on this coin's brilliantly reflective obverse. The reverse boasts a cameo appearance with its frosted wreath and watery, chrome-like fields. Here is a high quality specimen from a Proof mintage of 755 pieces. 570 1904 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $4,500.00 Fields are watery ponds of pure reflectivity on this gorgeous specimen boasting iridescent blues, oranges and roses on the obverse. As is characteristic for this collection, the reverse has remained essentially untoned, reveling in its virgin Proof beauty. A mere 670 Proofs were struck of this date. 571 1905 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $6,500.00 Impressive cameo contrast is sheathed in soft gold, sky blue and rose tones on the obverse, while the cameo contrast is much more austere on the essentially untoned reverse. This flawless beauty is surely one of the finest avaiable specimens of a 727 piece Proof mintage. 572 1906 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $2,800.00 - or virtually so. This virtual Gem is a visual twin to the 1905 above, as it shares the gold, blue and rose toning scheme gained as its next door neighbor in the Wayte Raymond boards in which this collection was stored for 60 or more years. The reverse, also like the 1905, is heart stopping in its cameo beauty. Just 675 Proofs were struck of this date. 573 1907 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $1,700.00 - nearly Gem. Beautiful cameo surfaces are awash in deep blue, magenta and amber tones on the obverse, while the reverse is essentially stark white and untoned but for a swath of color at the lower border. 574 1908 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $4,000.00 Fields are deep mirrors of pure reflectivity on this splendidly toned specimen. The obverse is awash in emerald, electric blue, amber and magenta tones, covering frosted devices and legends. The reverse is toned in clear gold, with some blues showing up at the lower rim. Here is a superb specimen of just 545 Proofs struck of this date. 575 1909 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $3,250.00 Richly frosted devices stand against chrome-like, fully reflective fields on this glittering near-Gem. As with most all coins in the Gardner Collection, the obverse is decorated in iridescent amber, magenta, blue and lime-gold from extended storage in Wayte Raymond boards. 576 1910 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $5,000.00 - essentially Gem. Dramatic reflectivity in the fields illuminates lime, blue and amber toning, while the centers are lightly toned and frosty. The reverse boasts clear amber and a touch of blue and is essentially devoid of any deep toning. 1910 saw a dwindling Proof mintage of just 551 pieces. 577 1911 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $8,000.00 A deep cameo effect is the defining characteristic of this gorgeous Proof Barber Dime. Complete frost adheres to the devices and legends, joining watery reflectivity in the fields. Iridescent blue, magenta and amber tones provide a frame to centers that are essentially untoned, creating a dramatic ''bulls-eye'' effect. A mere 543 Proofs were coined of this date. 578 1912 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $1,000.00  nearly Gem. A crisp strike elevates the frosted devices from the chrome-like, fully reflective fields for a stunning cameo effect. Rich gold, blue and especially rose and amber tones hug this coin's obverse, while the reverse is toned in clear yellow-gold. Just 700 Proofs were coined of this date. 579 1913 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $1,100.00 Exquisite pastel pinks and golds wreath a coin that exhibits a light cameo effect. Fields are dramatic mirrors, framed by wide borders and sharp, high rims on this high quality survivor of just 622 Proofs coined of this date. 580 1914 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $75.00 - with claims to Gem. Light russet-gold tones fill the edges and crevices of the devices on this satiny lustrous specimen. Here is a coin that would grade Gem if not for a trifling weakness of strike at the wreath. 581 1915 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $1,800.00 Stark white, cameo reverse is in sharp contrast to an obverse that is richly toned in clear gold at the frosted centers and in amber, magenta and blue toward the peripheries. Here is an exquisitely toned cameo specimen of just 450 Proofs coined in this final year of Proof issue. 582 1916 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $130.00 Glimmering mint frost surrounds boldly struck devices on this gold toned example of the final year of Barber Dime issue.
