1798/7 JR-2. 13 Star Reverse (Rarity-6). Choice Fine. Here is a colorfully toned specimen of this...
Choice Fine. Here is a colorfully toned specimen of this very rare subtype featuring 13 stars on the reverse rather than the more commonly encountered 16 star variant. As with most coins in the Gardner collection, the obverse is more colorfully toned, with peach, gold, rose and blue tones joining the dominant gray surface color. The reverse is a bit brighter silver gray from a gentle...  more

1798 JR-4. Small 7. Medium 8 (R-4). About Extremely Fine. Blue and gold tones weave in and out of...
About Extremely Fine. Blue and gold tones weave in and out of Miss Liberty's hair, with mottled yet attractive rose, blue and golden hues noted in the obverse fields. Glowing silver gray at the central reverse is ringed in wonderful peach, rose and blue tones at the peripheries. Well struck and displaying the usually encountered softness at the very centers of both sides. What must be described...  more

1800 JR-2 (R-5). Extremely Fine or a bit better in terms of wear. Beneath a layer of concentric circles...
Extremely Fine or a bit better in terms of wear. Beneath a layer of concentric circles of rainbow toning on the obverse are surfaces that exhibit scattered light marks and a slightly grainy texture. The reverse, on the contrary, is brighter silver in tone with hints of lustre glowing in the fields and protected areas! Some light hairlines should be noted at the lower reverse.
478 1801 JR-2 (R-5) SP $2,400.00
1801 JR-2 (R-5). Fine, and an entirely wholesome coin. Obverse is awash in variegated rose, yellow-gold...
Fine, and an entirely wholesome coin. Obverse is awash in variegated rose, yellow-gold and blue toning, while the reverse is brighter silver gray in tone and ringed in peach-gold and blue at the rims. The JR-2 variety is much more frequently offered than the JR-1, and the present specimen is about as attractive as one might find for this early Dime issue.
479 1802 JR-4 (R-4) SP $3,000.00
1802 JR-4 (R-4). Fine. Here is a specimen of the remarkable late die state variant featuring a huge...
Fine. Here is a specimen of the remarkable late die state variant featuring a huge die break at 'LIB' of LIBERTY that is elevated from the surface of the coin but that has not yet fallen out of the die, forming a full ''cud.'' As with many of the other early Dimes in this collection, the obverse is gorgeously toned in varying rainbow hues on the obverse, while the reverse is silver-gray...  more

1803 JR-5 (R-7+). Fine to Very Fine in actual terms of wear. Obverse surfaces are smooth and possess...
Fine to Very Fine in actual terms of wear. Obverse surfaces are smooth and possess an appealing arm's length appearance, with the silver-gray central devices wreathed in colorful russet and gold toning in the fields. There are ancient scratches on the obverse, and some on the reverse, all of which have long since toned down. The boldly defined reverse is silver-gray with some toning in the...  more
481 1804 JR-1. 13 Star Reverse. (R-5) CH VF $19,000.00
1804 JR-1. 13 Star Reverse. (R-5). Choice Very Fine. The 1804 Dime of either 13 or 14 star variety...
Choice Very Fine. The 1804 Dime of either 13 or 14 star variety is rarely offered in any condition, much less in such a pleasing middle circulated grade. Obverse devices and fields are awash in electric blue at the center, with gold and lilac tones at the peripheres. A ring of peach and electric blue toning frames a light gray and rather attractive center. Surfaces display the usual...  more

1805 JR-2. 4 Berry Reverse (R-2). Brilliant Uncirculated, with claims to Choice. Glittering, semi-prooflike...
- with claims to Choice. Glittering, semi-prooflike obverse fields are awash in sea green and gold toning, while Miss Liberty is rather well struck and bathed in rose and blue hues. The reverse is similarly glittering, exhibiting frosty mint lustre and glowing russet-gold at the peripheries. Here is a coin that would easily grade Choice if not for some very faint hairlines at the lower...  more
483 1807 JR-1 (R-2). Brilliant Uncirculated BU $3,250.00
1807 JR-1 (R-2). Brilliant Uncirculated, with claims to Choice. Here is a most gloriously toned early...
- with claims to Choice. Here is a most gloriously toned early Dime featuring lavender, rose, blue, lime and gold tones hugging the powerfully impressed devices and intensely lustrous fields. The strike is quite strong for an early Dime, which usually come weakly or unevenly struck, making this ever so gently hairlined specimen the ideal example for a Type Set.
